Harry,

You’ll need a Piccolo main shaft and main gear to fit your HB into the Cobra.

When building the Card Cobra, I found working with the foam board to be difficult. I substituted contest grade sheet balsa for the foam board. Building the frames from balsa sticks would work well also.

Thats wierd, coz i hav a pic' main shaft and its actually shorter than the hummber. Also the gear is much bigger than that of the hummer's so it wont fit in the frame??

Harry,

I not sure we are talking about the same bird. My shaft and main gear came off a Fun Piccolo. The main gear on the HB V2 has about 120 teeth. The one off the Pic has about 100 teeth. I took advantage of the increased rpm and run the Like 90 Blades on my Cobra. Nice and stable, and it handles fast forward flight very well. Your right about the foam board. I did not like working with that stuff at all.

Harry,

I would have to remove the shaft to give you an exact length but it is longer than the V2 shaft. I am going to be flying it at a Fun fly this weekend and if things go poorly, I will have an opportunity to remove the main shaft.
When I finished the Card Cobra body I touched up all of the exposed white paper with a black felt tip pen or black paint.
It looked ok, then I sprayed the model with a coat of Krylon clear and it looked great.
Good luck on yours

i can say the card cobra is an easy conversion job to fit on a humming bird,,and really looks awesome flying, and seems to fly nicer too (maybe just higher head speed helping), im doing my 2nd now, the 1st was done in a hurry with the wrong paper(too thin) this new 1 just feels and looks better with the proper matte paper. hope to be finish soon
