jeez if it wasn't so freaking ugly I'd be interested. Looks like a DX6i with a few more switches and larger screen. Between the futaba 8FGH(or w/e it's called) and this Spektrum 8, they must be having an "ugliest" radio contest. I must admit the Futaba 8ch tx look has grown on me a bit. So maybe in time I will be able to stomach the look of this radio.

Hopefully the gimbles are smooth and feel good, and the Radio has DX7SE like latency.

At least it has an flashcard. Someone give JR a slap to the head. Something they could have done when the XP9303 was first released.

in the other thread.. think DX6i with a few extra switches and slightly larger screen.. nothing to write home about unless you had a DX6 or no radio at all.

obviously aimed at the beginner market.

Hardly a beginner radio IMO. I am no beginner heli pilot, my planes are simple full throw 3d variety, and I don't need a bunch of features I wouldn't need.

I also like the fact that it will be cheaper than other radios, keep all that false quality metal and inflated high prices, for no real benefit. Plus this is built from the ground up with updated software and electronics. The DX7 and 9503 are old relics that folks are hanging onto because they spent so much for them. Dx6i, DX8 and Aurora 9 are the best radios for the dollar. IMO

How about frame rate Paul?

yeah how about the frame rate. With the Futaba 8FGH being very FAST compared to my $$$$ 12x and x9303 I'm a bit peaved I spent so much on "old" software radios.

Bearing supported gimbels

how many 2 vs 3 position switches?

I think the ability to update software should be MANDATORY in new radios and the companies had better support that, or perish in the market.

Jeez I would be interested, it just looks so TOY like .

I'd buy one. I couldn't care less about what it looks like, I'm not looking at it while I am flying. How it works and how it feels in my hands are what's important to me. I like my DX6i and prefer the light weight feel over the bigger, clunkier models like my old 9C.

appears most of the switches are 3 position

hopefully spektrum doesn't cheap out and make it a 22ms radio.

Yes, it's 11ms.
The CCPM servo channels are synchronized.

Only the rear shoulder switches are 2 position.

It has a software e-ring also.

well it's looking better spec wise all the time. Not sure how I would like it in "real life" seeing and holding it. If it doesn't feel "cheap" to me, I might sell off my 12x and x9303. I'm pretty spoiled thought with how the 12x feels in the hands. Very quality and smooth. Problem is I feel cheated that my 12x has about 1/2 the programming options of these newer radios and no option to upgrade firmware(to my knowledge). Plus it's the older latency. For a top end radio, it's in excuseable IMO. I was going to see if the JR 11x had the features and latency I wanted, but that looks like it might be plasticky and cheap feeling too.

Would be nice if JR could upgrade the 12x users into the faster latency and some of the newer programming features.

impressive new features and specs, just as mentioned abit to bad on its' looks, keeping it even same looking as the 7 would have been a better shot IMO. Has the roller been beefed up? I know of allot of the 6 owners really complain of this.. Also does this have bearings in the gimbals, upgraded pots? Also read no indication to this in North America, why delay is that not one of the largest markets??

Paul...

On that note since you are hovering here Paul, can you tell us if the 11X is 11ms as well? Seems NO ONE is able to find this out!

The 11x is 22ms.

The dx8 does not feel "cheap" at all. The Gimbals are fully ball-raced and there are rubber grips on the sides. The switches are the best quality we could find. It feels great in your hands.

Will it have a trainer port on it so you can use the radio with a sim?
