I hope I can make it.

I'm so excited about having the NATS and Jamboree blended together. I think this will help create much more of the awareness of FAI. I hope I can make it out to Muncie again this year. I am currently expecting my first child, and he'll only be 2 months old by the time IRCHA / NATS hits this year. Santiago... I hope that drag races pans out this year. I did have a blast riding around on the golf cart with you last year, trying to recruit people for it though. Hope to see you all again this year at THE LARGEST R/C EVENT IN THE WORLD !!!

There are a few of us from OZ trying to get some stuff booked to get there this year, we are very excited and have lots of questions starting to arise.

As things firm up I will no doubt be back in here looking for info and help.....

RADIO CHECK !!!

Hey Ryders...

Just an update for everyone that is planning on going to this year's IRCHA Jamboree... THEY ARE ONLY ALLOWING 2.4 Ghz !!!! They have posted the notice on the main website, www.ircha.org. Since the NATS are going on @ the same time and IRCHA has been getting larger every year.. they said it is only safe to have just 2.4 now. Please purchase any needed modules for your FM flyers before hand. Or pray that B&B and the other hobby tents will have excess amounts.

Just a bit of clarification............

THE NATS are 2.4 only. Although very few use 72mhz frequencies at IRCHA we will still allow them at the jamboree. We will use the same policy that we have for the last 4 year regarding 72mhz radios, with those being controlled by freq board only ( no impound )at or near the scale /vintage area.

ANY flying on site 3 or site 5 will be 2.4 only.

If this reads wrong on the IRCHA site, proper changes will be made.

Thanks
Dave

GET SOME MORE SPEAKERS ON THE SOUND SYSTEM FOR A CHANGE. You would think that being the largest RC event year after year that they would get the proper sound system. Is this also a safety issue as if there is an emergency you will not know it. With all the profits and attention I think they should at least get it on the radio as then we can keep up with the give away and prizes and feel like we are part of the event finally.COME ON AND GET IT RIGHT!!!!

You bring up a very good point that we have wanted to address. We have used AMA equipment, but it was never designed to handle a flightline the size of ours. We have been investigating the FCC requirements for being able to broadcast on FM freq so there would be coverage on site 3 & 5 as well....

While attending ICAS this year ( an event for full scale airshows ) I checked on sound systems and found the costs to be prohibitive. Bids start at 7K to 10K for a company to do the kind of sound system you are speaking of..... we are trying to locate, or if someone out there knows a company that can do quality - reliable sound. Let us know, we are searching ever avenue currently.

Actually, that is something that the AMA should really run with. Getting an FCC station license out in the sticks of Muncie should not be hard. As big as the AMA site is, it could really use it's own "radio station" that can be used for any of the events held at the site.

more on speakers

Dave -- Thanks for the clarification on the 72 Mhz piloting. btw.. thanks for all the help last year.. it was great to see you fly for a change.

Erich -- I completely agree. I think AMA should definitely have it's own radio station that can be broadcast from a mobile van or something. That way... any event on the AMA area can be covered and broadcast to anyone with a radio. they could even post up permanent speakers throughout the area to broadcast the station. I think it would be a great asset to AMA and all the events and sponsors of the events.

Yeah, it would be pretty neat. I posted the idea to the AMA discussion forum that the AMA leadership (DM, et al) reads. Of course there's already some resistance from the FOGs.

the rumballs were excellent.

Dave--- The IRCHA.org site says "Use of 72 mhz radios will be allowed at the jamboree. The NATS will be 2.4 only." So I apologize for the misread... thought it said "Use of 72mhz radios will NOT be allowed. >>> OOps!

Btw... thanks for allowing the "TeePee" last year. it provided great shelter for us from the rain / wind before IRCHA officially kicked off last year.

Well I guess I am heading to IRCHA this year. Have the hotel reserved and all. Trouble is, I don't think anyone I know is going. So if you see the guy and his red headed fiance standing around with their thumbs up their butts not knowing what to do or who to talk too....that will be me.

Regards, Brandon
