if a glow plug quits in flight will the engine temperature combined with the compression still keep the engine running, albeit at not such good performance? maybe a stupid question i dunno.
thanks

As long as the "coil" remains and does not touch the sides too hard you'l never even know it. (until you try the next start)

the reason i ask is because my raptor with an os32 sx-h was running great then the next flight i tried to start it and it wouldnt, i checked the plug and it wasnt glowing. i figured it to be too much of a slim chance to have blown by me attching the glow starter and if it had blown before it was when i was flying.........and it was flying excellent. weird.

Doug's right on about the coil and the engine still running. And it is possible to pop a glow plug right as you connect the glow driver to it. Whenever you make an electical connection there is what's called an in-rush current. It can be very large depending on the device you're connecting but it only lasts for a few milliseconds. This can be enough to push a worn glow plug over the edge though.

ok thanks everyone. recently when i took an OS 8 plug out of my os32sx-h the coil was a white frosty color, was the mixture too lean or too rich?
