This is from OS engines website. You need to calculate the optimal head-speed based on the gearing for YOUR helicopter.
Example: 17,000/8.5(sample gear ratio)=2,000 RPM Obviously if your gear ratio is different you need to calculate the correct head-speed.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.
Mines happy at 2250 as when its working doing a constant hard manouver , would imagine its running alot lower , then it seems to have more punch from the extra speed built up.
I keep my engine RPM at 18000 rpm give or take. The 17000 rpm IMO is too low. The motor is happy there. Fuel economy still good. Going higher didn't seem to improve power, but did negatively effect fuel economy.
OS55HZ HeadspeedJust broke in an OS55 mated to my Vibe50 at headspeed of 1750 Normal, 1850 idle 1. I ended up with needle settings of 1 full turn from close for the mid and 1.25 turn from close for the high. The power is awesome and yet my temp is only at 160F and still producing a lot of smoke. I can't do 3D yet so i can't tell if I already reach the max power of this engine. Anybody tried the OS55 with Vibe? Does weight still an issue?
