Hello everyone.

I really need to make a little bit faster my tail (rpm).
I have the stock gears from 8301 kit and 422 (main) blades with 90/18 gears. The tail is also stock 120mm blades.
Has anyone try to increase the tail rpm? Any suggest? Maybe 3 blades without change nothing else? Any difference?
Keep in mind it is a helicam with 11+KG total weight.

the reason? Just looking for faster and more stable responce when i load a lot my nose with cameras..

In case of question, the tail control is under CSM720 with BLS251.

Generally you would incread T/R blade lengths to get the job done...

Is 120 your max? Also can you increase the chord (width) of the T/R blades? That has always helped me in FAI/F3C competition; however, if I really increased the T/R RPM...I would go down in T/R diameter.

LMK what you come up with...what gyro are you using? (TR that is)

Thanks,

I'll try to use longer blades 130 etc to see the results.
The gyro is CSM SL720 with bls251 servo.
Perhaps another option is to shorter the boom...

If you shorten the boom you will loose leverage, that would be going backwards. I think it was photo ship One that has some large tail blades with a cord width 4mm. wider than stock blades.

Bill,

it seems we have similar AP ships. How are the #422 blades working for you? The Vario catalog and online shop says that the #422 are only for the 87:21 gear

As posted in a different thread, I was looking for the #423 (same length as #422 but for 90:18) but they are no longer available it seems and are rated as max-AUW 9kg anyway.

Re. tail I was thinking about longer blades too. Any recommended source?

Miha,
I have the 90:18 version. First time i heard for the 423 blades. I dont know about this. I use the 422 with this ratio and its vario recomended if you go at symmetrical chord. Im in search for alternative tail blades and if i have news i update this topic. Its easy to find longer tail blades but its hard to find the chord like Vario's.

have a nice day

Hmm, not sure now about this blade thing. Here is a picture from the catalog. Sorry, I have only the german version here. I hope it is okay to post this. If not, someone please let me know and I will remove it.

I fly the #421 (S-Schlag = non-symmetrical), the ones that bounce in windy conditions. The symmetrical ones for our rotor diamater of 1780mm and our gear ratio of 90:18 seem to be the #423. But they are limited to 9kg AUW and not available anymore (neither in price list, nor in Vario shop).

The #422 are stated as "use with gear combination 87 / 21 teeth only", both in the catalog and in the online shop, e.g. here:
http://gb.vario-helicopter.biz/shop...oducts_id=34339

Where is my mistake?

I have the #8311 kit and the #421 blades were included by default.
