Yes, teachers have great benefits packages. The average public school teacher only earns $40K a year. That's hardly enough to support a family in todays economy. Especially, after those benefits are deducted from their pay. But, that's what happens when you let government and unions dictate your pay.

I don't know about other states. But, here in Oregon, benefit packages are NOT deducted from teacher pay. They are in addition to their pay. And their base pay is not the highest of all the states. But, its close.

They still get 3 months in the summer off, plus every holiday know to man.

And $40.000.00 is to low???????????

Explain please.

Thanks John,

People just didn't seem to get it but I'm glad you reinforced my point EXACTLY.

Quote

refered to the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 "Sec. 501 TAX ON INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ACCEPTABLE HEALTH CARE COVERAGE",
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The above is an existing piece of legislation. It is not created in the bill you guys are all upset about, That was my point, all this does is point you at the existing laws, if jail is part of those laws, you should have bitched then rather than blame any law that references it. That has been my point all along, glad to see ya all caught up now....

And your point? The bill says if you don't pay the extra tax you go to jail, whether directly, or by proxy of referal to an existing piece of legislature, this bill points to that one for the punishments. Why are you so desperate when this isn't even your country? More of the nanny state mindset I guess, you seem to think that because you are dependent on your government that it's a good thing, and others should be dependent on theirs? Sorry, that's not how this country works. We do not want cradle to grave government dependence in our lives.

Well, my sister in law is a public school teacher. She has a master's degree, which won't be paid for until 2027. She's in her third year of teaching. Her take home pay is just under $500.00 every two weeks. During the school year, she works a 10 hour day, and grades her students papers at home. That usually takes another hour or two. The school recently decided to up the requirement to a doctorate for the class she is currently teaching. So, now she has to go back to school and spend more money, just to keep teaching the same class she has been for the last two years.

Not in Ohio. I have no idea what the "norm" is throughout the country.

Well, I would applaud her and her determination.

But, she made a choice. As educated as she is, she must have been aware of the rewards she was seeking. Or lack of them.

You might want to mention to her that she might consider moving to Oregon.

My point was, and still is, it was you John that jumpped on my back over this being in the bill or not. I was right, you were wrong, making the waters muddy is just your way to avoid it I guess.

Revisit ythe point you were making to me and maybe you'll understand mine.

The besk kind of slave is one that thinks they are free. Your gov. sold your ass down the line in 1913, stop pretending you have any freedom, you don't even have the right as a country to issue your own currency.

Stop the big "WE're Free" until you educate your self, Slave.

Just like every college frosh, she was promised $50K in her first year of teaching (with a BA), and great benefits. It turned out that she couldn't even get a job with a BA. So, it was back to school for another 4 years.... Now, it's back to school for another 4 years! Her student loans will be over $200K when she is finished. All, so she can finally make that $50K she thought she would be making 4 years ago...

Now, that is funny.

You know eSmith. If you spent more time on your own countries problems, rather than ours, then maybe your own problems would be less.

Just something to consider.

Half of our country doesn't mind being slaves. The rest of us are nearly ready to slaughter the slave masters.

Yes, we have it. Plenty of it. Especially from Hollywood. But, we ALL don't partake in it.

Well 1st, I have to admit, I never thought anyone here would 1) understand the extent of it, or 2) admit to it if they did.

Today, you surprised me.

so tell me, why as a country don't you guys do something about the federal reserve act? Seriously, the war of independance was costly and your soldiers fought bravely to give you freedom from your english oppressors.

When they cheated into law the federal reserve act, essentially wiping out any gains you made in the war of independance, somebody should have done something, but to this day the average american still think that they are free. If the USA was free, they would scrap the federal reserve act and reclaim the right to issue there own money without having to pay interest on it to private interests as happens now.

If you did, there would be plenty of money for healthcare.

A Democrat, perhaps you've heard of him? John F. Kennedy, did try to abolish the Federal reserve. We all know how that ended. We are doing something about it. 10 years ago, "Time for another Tea Party" was just a "right wing extremist" bumper sticker. 5 years ago, it was a much more popular bumper sticker. Today, the Tea Parties a a reality in every state. We are protesting. We will return to a constitutional republic, or we will die trying. It's not going to happen over night. We are doing it peacefully and incrementally through the ballot box.

Guy, get real. There's nothing "muddy" about it, the bill clearly states that if you don't do something, you are refered to XXX law for punishment. When you get a traffic ticket, it doesn't have everything that can happen in the course of dealing with it print on it, it refers to laws already on the books, just like those laws don't have all the laws regarding what happens in the court, and prison. As a matter of fact the entire bill is laced with referrals to other laws. Your attempt to pretend this bill doesn't say what it clearly does is very desperate, and sad.

I never said it wasn't reffering to laws that sent you to jail, I said there was no specific mention of "Jail" in the document., others agreed, the wording just isn't there. I have been pointing out all along that the law about going to jail for not paying taxes was on the books long before this.

How dumb is it to support throwing law abiding citizens in jail for objecting to the war but holding out on any law that would help the less foturnate?

But yes, your repeated demand we accept "it is in there" when it's not just because YOU "See it as the same" IS desperate and sad.....

But, if it makes you happy......

1st, if you disagree with something, speak up. if part of that question is false, point it out, if you can, I'm pretty sure you'll try and I'll again prove you wrong.

What do you mean "again"? Wouldn't that mean that you have already proved me wrong? Refresh my memory, when did that happen?

And this thread is about making sure everyone is covered by healthcare right? About getting rid of "The Rich get it first" and not throwing people out into the streets to die because your not getting profit out of it.
