Well its been about 2 years now since I have heard from ole Jack Dunkle who stiffed me for $600. I used my time and materials to cut some prototype frames for his Gasser Scale models. I had done work for Jack over the years and was always a slow pay but never did I get the feeling he would stiff me.

I have left him about 75 or so cell messages,a couple letters and even a few text messages.
If your curious do a search on Jack Dunkle and you will see that I have tried several times to tastefully get hold of him

Shortly after doing the work for Jack he said the payment was on its way, communication with him get more and more strecthed out til finally radio silence.

I have tried several times to reach out to him thru this and other forums hoping that there would be someone who knows him well enough to have him give me a call and straighten this out. Only one fella over the past two years said he had seen Jack and would have him call me...... Nothing ever came of that.

So although $600 is not the end of the world there isn't any reason I should lose this money. I did the work and used my materials.

Jack if you happen to read this how about giving me a call,pm,email, letter, you have all the numbers and addresses to do so.

Wow if this is legit that is some pretty lame action over freaking RC Helicopters.

Call the dork's local prosecutor, give him the dork's number/info, press charges.

I wonder if he will call the prosecutor back?

While I am no internet lawyer, I would assume that petty larceny (or whatever equals 'dude didn't pay under $2,000' ) would have at least a few year statute of limitations.

There are laws to protect you. Was this transaction across state lines?

Man... that could get ugly!

Jack, you are a dork. Just letting you know.

Cheers!

Isn't anything over $250.00 considered Grand Larceny?

Like I said, I am no internet lawyer but you may even be able to start with your local police department instead of reaching out to CA authorities.

Let your hard paid taxes go to work for you for once!

No clue about where the line is between petty/grand larceny on the federal level (too lazy to google) but he has committed a crime, simple as that.

Oh and to clarify, it should get UGLY for HIM not you!

Sorry your good faith was taken advantage of.

I don't believe larceny is considered a federal crime unless it involves certain institutions like banks (but then it's not just larceny) or crossing state lines?

Anyways, in most states, the breakpoint is $250.00. New York state's breakpoint is $1,000. Some southern states, it's as little as $5.00.

I would have been camping out on the guys lawn by now.

Really makes you wonder what the heck goes thru peoples head sometimes.
I guess the surprising part is Jack giving me the great big Ignore.

I thought that Jack was a Standup guy and even if he were short on $$ we could have easily worked out some sort of payment plan. He sure didn't have any problems taking my work, his cell phone worked just fine then.

Oh I see.. I don't know anything about being in the business of cutting carbon frames but if I did and somebody called me and wanted it done, I sure wouldn't do it without the money up front or at least a deposit. I called Robart once to build me a custom set of retracts for a Len Mount Dauphin and they first thing they said is "how will you be paying for this?"

Keep in mind Jack and I had done many projects together prior to him going AWOL so that is why the frame sets shipped out in good faith.

Why off-topics?

I would put a big "Jack Dunkle JMD models" heading on the main discussion thread.

Go figure...

What could be more on topic than knowing about scammers in this hobby?
