I like the GF frames simply because there silver and I find there easier to see than the black CF ones, I also think silver looks better.

I busted the stock carbon frames in my first crash. It was repairable, but it cracked both sides in the front. I switched to the Custom Heli Parts frames although I don't know if these will hold up any better

Both my fibreglass GF frames broke last crash, I think if the crash is hard enough it wont make any difference what there made out of, I would buy what frames you like the colour of, I think the silver ones are easier to see and look better but thats just me.

In all the years of crashing 600 size helis again and again, I never had a frame break once, but the very first time I crashed my 500 had to replace both, hope its not something that happens every crash as it really bumps up the repair bill, I basicly had to replace the entire heli, apart from the head which for some strange reason was completely intact.

I've had the CF and GF and believe me,,,I crash'm.lol...
I haven't broken either yet.

Personally,I like the look of the silver GF much better.

I realise the 500 is better lit up in that photo^^, but that 450 in the background with CF frames realy emphasises how much easier the GF frames are to see (imagine if that 450 also had an ESP canopy thats mostly black), thats why I prefer them over the CF.

OP there is no best frame there all good and all personal preffrence.

I have a silver stock GF frame been through maybe 8 wrecks and its still perfect.

there is no advantage for me to get a CF frame at all.

okay thanks for the help guys. I just pulled the trigger on a exi 500 plastic edition kit form xheli, yes they finally have them back in stock so I ordered mine before they sold out of them again, and I have to wait another two months to get one. so when it gets here then I will look it over and then start to look around for some electronics and stuff and just some upgrades that I would like to have. been thinking about a blue aluminum frame from hp heli but we'll see.

be careful. you get what you pay for when it comes to heli kits.

especially when you move into the larger heli's.

cheap batteries are one thing but a $77 500 sized heli spinning 2500-3000 rpm on the head 10 feet in front of you is another.

to get that heli to the specs of the 500esp you'd might as well go ahead and buy the align 500esp. once you buy the upgrades needed you'll have spent the money you would have on an esp. not including the electronics that come with the esp with the kit.

with a cheap larger heli kit you will pay now or pay more later.

I bought a Flasher 500 kit and I have spent a FORTUNE trying to get it to fly without something breaking and causing a crash.
Every time I replace something with Align upgrades, something else snaps and trashes the whole heli including the new upgrades.

It is down now because the swash broke in flight and the heli just rolled over out of control.

It's the heli pictured here. The rotor head is all that's left of the Flasher kit and like I said,it just broke and crashed.

By buying all the upgrades separately and repairing crashes from failed parts...I now have over $750 in the kit. That does not include any electronics.

I gave $500 for my ALign Trex 500 ESP and flew it for a year without so much as a loose screw.

Just my 2...Take it for what it is.Just a personal experience.

For the record,I have an EXI 450 that also has problems with the rotating assembly. It's down now for a crash caused by a swash coming apart in flight.

At the very least, the EXI's need a better swash plate and a metal tail.

well the 500 kit that I bought has the aluminum head assembly. and the aluminum frame which i wanted. so I'm sure that it will fly fine. cause I can hover my exi 450 way better than my belt cp. so the exi 500 should be just fine. I will probably do a few upgrades like the aluminum tail box and maybe the hp heli aluminum frames but we'll see what the kit looks like when I get it.

mckrackin...

I wonder if I got the same "flasher 500", the one I have is all metal head/tail including a torque tube tail. I got it in August and its got over 50 flight on it... granted that I do FF flying with rolls/loops/flips - no hard 3D on it. No mechincal problem and happy with it so far.

I was looking around at some of the sites on the net tonight and I think that I might have found the motor that I will put in my exi 500. The only problem is that it will have to be ran on a 6s lipo instead of the 5s lipo like I wanted to do. So that might be and issue that comes into play. cause my balance will only balance up to a 5s lipo. so I might have to go with my second choice on the motor.
