Concept 30DX I bought new from The Flightbox in Pottstown PA. Both are long gone.

I played with it for a summer, got to where I could hover for a tank, then bought a Jet Ranger fuse for it. Smashed it to bits. Sold the parts to a co-worker and gave up for years.

Heli's just mock me then crash....

SJM 400II

Just started about 8 months ago. It is very easy to get hooked. About 3 months ago a very good friend gave me his GMP Competitor that had been hanging in his garage since 1983. I have the rebuilt the engine, powdercoated the frame and have everything except the cooling fan to make it go. I will hover it a few times and then retire it

SJM 400II

I sold it a little while ago. The reason being I picked up 2 SJM 400 C/F Pro's and 2 SJM 325-C Pro's. I really, really like them. Very easy to change out parts (when you are just starting that's really handy)and they are built very well.

SJM 400II

You will really like the tri-tail. When I put mine on I modified it a little with a dremel so it would give me a little more clockwise tail rotation. I can send some pic's if you want. I don't know how to do that here yet. My email is kdraper@sunwestmilling.com

Is this fun or what :)......

Once you get your "My Gallery" started it's easy.
Help files are
Free My Gallery uploads are only available on Mondays. However; if you would like to upload any day of the week, Join Club20. It is a one time $20 gate fee that removes advertising from My Gallery and allows you to upload seven days a week. IMO - It's worth it...

Then you can post pics of the 1st Heli....

Building the SJM400-V3

let me know how that goes!

I built the V1 for the LHS sortly after it came out. pics and thread link are in my gallery.

there are some design flaws in the first one that turned me away from it. but they were addressed in the V2. but this is the first i have heard of the V3.

Bummer

What an absolute bummer. I like the little SJM400C/pro more than any other heli I've owned. Albeit, I've only owned a couple, I crashed this one the least Makes it the best in my book.

Hahah! What a thought! My first helicopter was originally a Schluter Heli-Star but eventually it became known as "toast"! That was the OLD SCHOOL days in 85-86. Seriously, I have no idea how the neighborhood's property insurance rates didn't collectively go up or no-one got whacked. I was a serious and safe kid but man it got to the point that when I'd start up people would run indoors.

I'm even WORSE today!!

Jami: Out of 5 helis, the old lmh gets used the most. Bought mine in 96 but didn't use it much because of the underpowered Norvels. Put a Himax 35 in it about 7 yrs ago and never looked back. Should have used a higher KV motor in it as I had to put a smaller crown gear from a Hurricane 550 idler gear. Motor runs just warm on 3 cell li-ion batts. With a little persuasion, it does loops and rolls. They don't look good but it does its best. Not afraid to do things with it that I wouldn't think of doing with the others. Sort of the Willys Jeep of the heli world. Looks rough, rides like a stone boat but will be around when the rest are gone

Gord.

You won't believe this looking at my name but it was a GMP Cricket!

Dad sent me one to England and I built it with only the use of one hand!

Mick Wilshire of World engines (Now Tigre engines) had made me a 4 function TX for use with one hand - the first two being vertical and horizontal on the stick, the third by twisting the stick and the fourth was a lever on the side with a ring on it operated by my little finger.

Despite being a Gorham I never got quite as good as Robert or dad!

I now stick to selling antique pocket watches and clocks - it's safer!

DuBro 505

My first was a DuBro 505 with a K&B 40. Seems like I owned allot of the old ones like the DuBro Tri Star and Shark. Then I got a Kavan Jet Ranger. Only got to hover the Ranger before some guy offered me more than I thought it was worth. I didn't really learn to buzz around in forward flight until I got my Cricket.
