I have the opportunity to pick up a Spectra G for a very good price,no electronics, and wondered what i should be aware of to look for ? Whats the proper blade for this animal and what is the finished weight of it with a top starter setup ? Also, this one has top start and can it be converted back to the pull starter ? Thanks for your effort.

-Look at the piston through the exhaust port and make sure its good.
A lot of people dont know how to tune these motors and they can be damged very quickly if not tuned right.

-Check the clutch out, make sure there is plenty of liner left and the clutch isnt all blued up.

-Check the tailbox , make sure it runs true and isnt worn out.

These 3 things are the main items which will cost the most to fix to look out for.

I run 720mm vblades on my, Autos forever .

Well, did you?

Take the plunge into the gasser world?

I bought my first one used and in really good shape. I did not care about the engine as I have a TRM from 1005 that I put in it.

It is really a nice machine. Takes some TLC but well worth it.

You will love it. I added all sorts of Eagle Tree monitoring (SeaGull) so I could monitor motor speed and most important, engine head temps, while flying.
The Lil Jewel gen is really a must, never worry about your battery being charged. In fact I had a battery completely fail in flight and didn't even notice till I landed, Lil Jewel save me many 100's of dollars.
I used 720 mm blades on mine.
Also add a light spring on the throttle servo to kill the throttle if you have a failure, crash, or prevent a hot start. See my gallery for an example.

OOPS, Didn't mean to dissapear after posting ,but been very busy. Yess i did pick up the G model and yes it is flying . After replacing the carb with a 603 my tuning problems went away.I still need to set up two idle up curves but am thinking of sticking a governor on it. This is not my first round with a gas engine, been running them for over thirty years in giant scale a/c. IT is my second gasser,my first ,and present, being my Vario Bell 47 GIII .I appreciate all the feedback.
