The American Medical Association's much-touted endorsement of the House health care reform bill has triggered a revolt among some members who want the endorsement withdrawn.

Some members are outraged that the group's trustees made the endorsement without the formal approval of the organization's House of Delegates.

On Monday, delegates will vote on a resolution offered by some members that, if approved, will withdraw the AMA’s endorsement of the bill.

President Obama cited the endorsement of the influential AMA, along with AARP's, in a surprise appearance Thursday in the White House briefing room as he attempted to beat back criticism that the bill would gut Medicare.

"They're endorsing this bill because they know it will strengthen Medicare, not jeopardize it," he told reporters. "They know it will protect the benefits our seniors receive, not cut them."

"So I want everyone to remember that the next time you hear the same tired arguments to the contrary from insurance companies and their lobbyists and remember this endorsement the next time you see a bunch of misleading ads on television," he added.

Many of AARP's members are POed too! Does anyone know what the name of the conservative alternative to them would be?

Everyone should withdraw!

What irritates me in all this 'so called reform' is that
the US Government will be in charge.

They must be, how else could they impose a FINE on you and your
family if you fail to retrieve an insurance policy?

The Government runs Medicaid and Medicare, there are massive
amounts of fraud in both.

And you are trying to tell ME that the 'new' system will be
pristine PURE? Come on.

The Government runs Social Security, but has borrowed against it
to the point of failure as is predicted in the not so distant future.
(And I am nearing retirement age.)

Since 1973 and Roe V. Wade, in the United States of America alone,
we have murdered over 30 million babies. Had they all lived they
would be paying taxes into The Government's funds.

That 30 Meg number represents 1/8th of the Population!!!

This WHOLE health care thing is simply a way for the Osama Obama
administration to bless those illegal immigrants thus insuring
for HIMSELF the 2012 election.

Why? Because he knows people are that stupid.

It is underhanded, dirty and criminal.

In less than 3 years, if we live, we are going to watch this
man destroy the United States of America - - for our own good.

WATCH.

At least my 'willies' with Clinton (The Last Democrate POTUS)
didn't make the hair on the back of my neck stand straight out.

This dude is creepy...

Vote him out. NOW.

Peace

The President does not have the power that Congress wields. Congress sets the budget. Congress creates the legislation that you are so angry about.

All the President does is veto or sign what they put in front of him.

The real power is in congress.

People always blame the man in the white house when really there are three branches of government. More people should read the Constitution. People seem to think we live in a monarchy with a King. This is false. In reality, we live in a representative republic with a Judicial, Legislative, and Executive Branch. Each branch has checks and balances over the other.

The President and the Cabinet are simply one branch. The majority of the President's power comes from his ability to command the armed forces, which our current president seems reluctant to do. He has already appointed the Supreme Court justices for his tenure.

If you are unhappy with the direction politics is moving, there's no need to make it through three years. In fact, waiting it out shows ignorance of the political process! In 2010, if the congressional election goes the Republican direction, a Republican controlled congress would render the President politically neutralized. All he would be able to do is veto their bills. Even then, Congress can always override a veto.

Another big one...congress also has the power to impeach the president. But the president can't impeach Congress! Think about it. Who holds the power?

The real power is in the legislative branch. Most people don't know that.

Please everyone, read the Constitution. Public ignorance is what causes us to get hosed by government.

What is FAR more important is when a congressman votes on party lines against his constituency, or his district!!!

In doing so, the congressman fails to do what the founding fathers intended. Your congressman is supposed to be YOUR elected representative. When you hear a congressman say he is reluctant to vote for something because it is unpopular in his home district, and yet he does. THIS SHOULD BE DEALT WITH HARSHLY!

We the People have only one power, the power to vote these men and women in or out of congress. Any attempt by a congressman to vote against their consituency is a betrayal and must be dealt with harshly. You hear congressmen voting against their constituency "for their own good." This is BS, and shows a lack of respect for the constituency. We are not their children. We don't need to be given castor oil for our own good. We can vote them out of a job if we like and they need to know that.

We the People must show congress that we expect them to be loyal to US, not to THEIR PARTY!

If we fail to vote them out for their betrayals, then we deserve whatever we get.

We deserve whatever we get because we have failed to exercise our only power in government. Our right to vote.

If you're unhappy, this continued focus on the President is a waste of your time and emotion. You will accomplish MUCH more by writing/contacting your local congressman, be it House or Senate. Let them know your take, and how it will affect your vote next time around. Don't wait until the betrayal. Let them know ahead of time what the outcome of that betrayal will be.

They will listen to their consituency if their constituency would only speak up! The President cannot make the Health Care bill happen if Congress flushes it down the toilet before it ever gets onto the Oval Office desk.

Again I can't say this enough. The real power is in Congress.

I joined AARP years ago before I had any idea what they were up to. I despise the crap that they have been sending me through the mail....just lies about the healthcrap bill and attacks on anyone that questions Obama.

I bet AARP is sick of me and probably has me blocked on their emails. I wish all the AARP members would send daily emails to AARP.....Grrrr!!!!!
