SK 360

The sk360 has some problems with multi bladed heads on scale applications. I e-mailed the company regarding an application of their 360 on a Vario dauphin. The responded and suggested that their system was not tested for larger scale ships and they did not suggest its use.

Skookm wrote:

There are a fair number of pilots flying large scale machines with the
SK360 in them, yes. However, we don't strongly push it for that purpose, as it's outside out in-house testing envelope.

Re the manual, if you run into any problems, please don't hesitate to
email for help, and we can then edit the manual to cover the issue raised.

Best Regards

There are other posts regarding the setting used on the Skookms and how to set up a dual configuration so the spool up and initial flight are easier. Additionally what type of survo you use makes the difference.

I learned to fly inverted, I just stand on my head

Can you post a picture of the Head setup so that we can see the linkage?

My phase trim for my 50-sized 4-blade head is +36 degrees. I've tried to make the links as straight as possible where the follower allows.

You say -20 degrees seems to work for you, are you running trailing edge controls?

What you can also try in turn up the Hiller gain a little.

Or, swap the 2 SK360's that you have, maybe one is faulty.

Try switching it to trailing edge control on the head. I'll change the delta of the head and make it a little more stable and less pitchy.

I'm still tuning my 50-size 4-blade, but did find yesterday that my phasing was off.

It was not advanced enough from the +36 degrees and the effect of that was when I give only forward cyclic, the heli would tilt forward, but also to the left. Vice versa was true for backward cyclic. Similarly, when I give only right cyclic, the heli would tilt right, but also forward.

Because of this, every little cyclic input required a lot of correction and therefore the heli 'seemed' to drift.

My Phasing is now +47 degrees and cyclic movement of the heli is correct, and I can hover hands free (nearly). Need to adjust the Aileron and Elevator settings a little.

I don't know why I didn't clue into this on the bench ealier as I did what I always do: at zero pitch, align one set of blades along the boom so they are parallel and give Elevator input and there should not be any movement. It seemed to be OK like with all my other Multi-Blades (but obviously this one was a little off, maybe my eyesight is going, I am using reading glasses now).

I should have looked at the position of the actual linkage ball on the swash. It looked more like 45 degrees and I should have clued into that.

Although it is working now, I've taken the heli apart because I need to change the drive ratio and also I don't like the way the Century head is in stock mode, so will be doing a little simply modifications to make it work better.

You asked what Hiller Gain I'm using, well, these are my present settings:

..... Elevator / Aileron
Control Rates: 100/120
Bell Gain: 30/35
Hiller Gain: 55/45
Damping Gain: 16/12
Tail Drag Comp: -6/0
Hiller Decay: 60

Hope this helps.
