What's the difference or advantage of a bubbless clunk over a fuel magnet or the other way around?

They both work great.

The bubbless clunk is less maintainance, and no worry about a rotting sponge causing a clogged fuel line, (If you run exhaust preasure).

Fuel magnet will get every last drop of fuel.

I can please 1 person a day.
It's NOT your day.
Tomorrow's not lookin good, either

+1 for the bubbless clunk. It's worth it too not have to worry about the foam disintegrating over time.

Just put one in my 600N and I love it! It's so nice not to have a header tank anymore.

This hobby is like Kryptonite to chicks!

I've got the bubbleless clunk on my 600 and it's great, On the other hand I have a fuel magnet on my 700 and it works very well too. I'd say if you run a YS the fuel magnet is a good choice (crankcase pressure) if you run an OS or TT, then the bubbleless is the way to go.

How long you should wait before you change the foam in a magnet ?
(Before you see it disintegrating of course.)

Sorry for the hijack.

I don't fly that often maybe once a week a few flights and I always empty the tank...

Thanks..

hi

Ive got the fuel magnet in my trex 700 and its been in all season but remember that the exhaust gases kill it quickley if left unfilled imediatley after flying however the bubbless clunk will out last the fuel magnet by its very nature

regards all

Stick an OS bubbleless clunk in it & be done with it.
I used to use a Fuel Magnet. I gave the bubbleless clunk a go & will never go back to a Fuel Magent.

It sucks every drop out of the tank, but doesn't require maintenance, or "special procedures" like the Fuel magnet does.

I've been using one for over 12 months with no issues whatsoever.

i love the bubbleless ,you don"t have to worry about it after you install it, and you can leave fuel in the thank or not,it does not matter with the bubbleless clunk

Does the bubbleless clunk attract fuel as the magnet does ?

It's the first time I am not running a header tank ever since I bought my 700 because it's just a pain to adapt one on it and I am worried about fuel getting low especially when I am inverted. Which is why I installed the magnet.

Also, I have installed my tubing on the OUTSIDE hole of the tank instead of the inside, because it's also a pain to get to it if I ever need to. But I just don't worry about it with the magnet even though the line does not reach all the way to the other side of the tank like this.

So, does the BBL clunk functions the same way ? I just thought it serves only as a better clunk than the original...and prevents air to enter, but never thought it will ATTRACT fuel

+1 for OS bubbless. it 3d's great until theres only about 1/4" of fuel in it, then you can hover out the rest if your that desperate. like someone else mentioned, once you put it in, you dont have to worry about it. who wants to tear apart the 700 fuel tank nightmare to keep replacing foam elements...

Went from a bubbless clunk to a fuel magnet, Never going back, love the fuel magnet with a YS91SR engine (crankcase pressure not muffler pressure)!

Stay away from the fuel magnet unless you are going to replace the foam every season, they do fall apart and clog up your delivery line. Bubleless clunk is the way to go.

You definetly want to go with the Fuel Magnet or ELD (Every Last Drop) as it's somtimes called.

I have been running the Fuel Magnet for the past 4 years, on all of my 90 machines WITH muffler pressure and there is simply nothing better to run.

The Bubbleless Clunk will still occasioanlly catch some air and could run a bit lean where as the Fuel Magnet can never run lean since it's a sponge and actually retains the fuel.

As with most parts of your helicopters you need to maintain them to a certain degree in order for them to run consistently, the Fuel Magnet is no exception.

I typically change the Element (foam) every 6 months, many times it doesn't need to be changed but I consider it preventive maintenece.

I tried the ELD once and was going good until the one time I ran out of fuel and couldn't fill the tank back up. Bird sat with no fuel for a couple of weeks and when I got it fueled, the sponge desintegrated. Luckily I had a back-up clunk and was still able to fly. Went with the OS Bubbleless and have not had any issues since. Don't get me wrong, I did like the ELD when I was flying, but if by chance you run out of fuel or forget to fill your tank, you take the chance of a spongy mess in the tank. Just my $.02.

Neither, I had both and the fuel magnet is to much maintenance and if you go OS bubleless make sure the line in the tank is big enough to handle the extra weight of the clunk. I went back to stock clunks and put on a header tank and forget about it. - Kris
