I recently had a crash with my exi 450 and had to setup the tail again, but when i give rudder input with my radio the heli will swing the tail around fast one way than the other? what could be the problem? and how do I fix it? thanks.

Faster one way than the other? if this is the case things you can check. Look at the tail box. The pitch slider should be traveling both ways all the way to the stop. If you can turn off your gyro you should see your servo arm and arm on the tail at 90 degrees to the pushrod running down under the boom. The idea behind all this is to make sure the blade are moving all the way to the max position. If your blades are moving both ways equally then you can check your rudder neutral point.

In my set up process I set my gyro in rate mode and hover it to see which way the nose wants to drift. You want to slide the tail servo up or back on the boom, forward for right and back for left. Slide the tail servo and retest until the nose holds without moving. If your not sure about rate mode in your gyro you can turn off your gyro to do this but do not hover the heli, just spool it up until it gets light on it's skids and you'll see what way your nose wants to drift and then you can make corrections.

Also end points may adjust this problem but I keep my end points set at 100/100

Hope this helps.

did you twist the tail-drive belt in the wrong direction when you re-built it?

well, this is what i do to check things over;

1/ make sure tailrotor rotation is correct; not sure if this is the same for all helis, but all mine (T-rotors' turn anti clockwise viewing the heli from its RHS.

2/ check tail servo direction; again on my helis this means that a 'left-rudder' input from my tx 'pushes' the tail-control rod - ie; the TPS (tailpitch slider) will be moving 'right' towards the tail hub.

3/ now i check for 'gyro direction;' so what i do is take a firm hold of the heli and give it a sharp anti-clockwise rotation while observing the responce from the tail servo. the t/servo should 'pull' the tail control rod ie; the TPS should be moving toward the tailcase.

from this point (with the exception of mechanical set-up) everything else is adjusted from my tx. hope some of this might help you.

Are you saying that when you spool up , it piros one way THEN the other.
(and you can't even get into a stable hover).

If this is the case, then you have something reversed mechanically or electronically.
Start w/ a bench test:

OR

Are you saying that it will piro FASTER one way then the other?
(You can hover fine, but the piro rate is faster in one direction than the other)

This could be your travel adjust settings, the servo centering or the travel limits possibly.
I also like itsjojo will hover in rate mode and then adjust my servo position on the boom to get near zero drift in an idle up hover.
