Had my acl repaired Tuesday morning, and everything is going well with the exception of muscle pain in my thigh. I realize that cold helps with the swelling in the knee but will it hurt to use some heat on my leg muscle? It's pretty sore, which I'm guessing from the tourniquet.

Acl surgery sucks.

I have had 3 on my left and 2 on my right! All that by the time I was 34. Still active duty military, but the amount of Aleeve (sp?) I take is going to play hell on liver later on.
Do your physical therapy. Don't start, stop, jump, land, twist, turn, or spin.
Get a good heli sim and relax for a week!

Good luck MX.

did you tear it from riding?? My friend rides with braces, I never did, don't like the feel of them. But if you do ride a lot (especially now that you've had work done) you'll be wanting to wear at least one.
It's a tough rehab, best wishes to you. My brother had it done and he said after he was done rehabbing, that knee is WAY stronger than his "healthy" knee. Now he has to be careful of pushing that one too far.
Just an FYI.

Hey Mx...
Wondering the same thing ...if you tore it riding....
I just shattered my tib and fib on my dirtbike.... overshot a jump... came down to hard on the flat...foot was to far back on the peg...crushed the ankle instantly into alot of pieces....2 plates and about 14 screws later it is doing pretty good.....I am currently looking for some better boots and maybe a good ankle brace...

that's why I stay in the woods!! Never really took to all the jumps. I started too late so my fear factor was already set. But I do love railing a nice trail (Hare Scrambles). It's been a while and I'm thinking of going back to it. Still got my bike. Was supposed to go work a race this weekend with my bud, but some things came up. I'm bummin'

No, this is about my only injury that has NOT come from a dirt bike. I have my bike for sale since it's just going to be sitting in my garage depreciating in value over the next few months while I can't ride it. I'll pick up a new bike in the spring when I can ride again.

Here I am on day 8 and I'm still hurting a lot. Been doing all my exercises that I am suppose to, and icing the knee's a lot. Pain has been worse the last couple days than it was after the surgery for the first few days. Swelling is way down, though it still has a lot of swelling in the knee. Basically the leg is just very sore. Here are some pics. I'll make the links clickable so that people that don't want to see don't have to.

These were 3 days after surgery. Swelling is way down now.

I'll get some more pics of what the legs look like now. My whole thigh is bruised on my left leg and most of my calf.

Did they use a cadaver ligament?? On my bro, they took some other ligament out of some part of his thigh and used that. How did you manage to tear both???
So you're down for quite some time if you can't hobble on one aren't you??? Man, that suuuuuxxxxxx.....

I can walk fine. They took the graph from my good knee. The pain is still bad though.
