I have the carbon framed version.. and got to say that I love this heli. Use to have the trex 500.. and took a punt and decided to try the protos out.. and it was not long before it was goodbye TREX.

Very powerful and agile heli. Recently bought the Protos flybarless conversion, and now fitted with the Mikado VBAR.. Things have gotten a whole lot better

I like it as well. But I am having problems getting it
flying right after a couple crashes and repair.
It still has negative pitch and pushing itself into the ground.
Then it wont lift off until it leaps off the ground WAY too fast.
I took Most of the Neg Pitch out and it was much more docile
but then my mentor put it back in.

As with all helicopters, they can be set up to suit your flying style. If you are learning, you're probably only going to need your one flight mode to start with, and not so much negative that it is pushing itself into the ground. Are you sure your 'mentor' is setting it up to suit you, and not themselves?

Very fast head

The roll rate on these things are amazing and the speed is incredible. I was flying mine at lunch in the back lot and people said it moves like a dragon fly

I like the price personally, $389 for kit, motor (actually a good one unlike that other brand), esc and very nice blades. Also crash parts are cheap, like the a set of frame sides for only $17.

I will say this is not a newbie heli though. I got one last year, not long after I started to fly, and I did nothing but fight it until I sold it. Now I have my second one and actually know how to set it up properly, that makes all the difference.
