Who uses the Mini V-Bar on large helicopter. 600 to 700 class.
Are there any comments?

Best regards Jesper Kofoed

I'm thinking of doing it on an electric 90 real soon. I think it is only a matter of time until Mikado authorizes this. I'm not sure I would do it on a nitro, however.

just culling rumors from various posts. so, take with a grain of salt. but, i believe the Nitro would be fine. i think it's the micro-vibes from a larger E-heli that would be problematic from what i've heard.

if it ain't broke…break it.

Someone's just got to give it a try and see what happens.

Personally, I really wish Mikado would release a full-size V2 V-bar that has integrated receivers but a separate sensor so it could be used with larger helis (or helis with more vibration). The current full size V-bar that requires a separate receiver connected by 5 patch cables is a real PITA.

In the end, the Curtis Youngblood Total-G may end up being the better FBL unit. We'll just have to wait and see.

i forget where i read it. i'll see if i can't dig up the post.

but, paraphrasing ralf of vbar, basically he said they'd been down that road, and the others trying to make an integrated unit for larger helis would soon learn what he found out long ago.

think about it...it only makes sense to design it as a single unit from the outset. the fact that it is two separate units now is a fairly logical progression from a problem that presented itself in the development process, no?

someone 'just trying it' sounds like a good way to reverse engineer a known issue IMO.

of course, with the cuXXXnt progress/development of electronics, it's a foregone fact that whatever the issue was in the past/is now will be solved. it's only a matter of time. but, the fact that vbar won't officially approve use of the mini-v on larger helis pretty emphatically states that THEY don't think the time has arrived.

if it ain't broke…break it.

I saw a video of a guy flying one on a Rigid. For what it's worth, it looked to perform excellent so I'm not sure why Mikado doesn't support it.

That's not a mini V on the Rigid, as it says it's the German AC-3X. But I do believe I have seen a vid with a Rigid using mini-V.

Mini is designed for smaller helis, in addition to issues with Vibrations;

a) You dont have ANY ports out except throttle, so with Nitro's you will need RX anyway.

b) While the powerbus is strong on the Mini, the problem is getting power INTO the mini, ReactorX or other solution like it ofcourse works.

That said, its quite easy from a business standpoint to see why they say no, because if they say yes, and you crash your heli because the input power cables burned off, who is to blame?

We will see what happens in the future, it might be something else in the making.

I'ved played around with mini on bigger machines just to test, but I fly regular VBar on all my big machines now.
