I am used to flying two mistakes up, although I can do lots of 3D tricks such as funnels, hurricanes, tic-tocs and side, piro-flips, rainbows, etc...

I can hover inverted on the deck on all orientations, but that's it.

The problem is that when I fly my 450, up it goes, which prevents me from seeing it or worse... from flying in confined spaces.

Other than the cool factor and small heli issue, why would you want to go lower?

More importantly, how do I get there? The Sphincter Factor is huge...

My learning curve definitely had a gap in that area. I wasn't good enough to 3D at 20 to 30 feet and was flying so high that had a hard time with orientation. It was only until this year when I became comfortable with 3D flight under 50 feet. So cool to see your heli in all its glory thrashing around. I do fly my 450 in a 200ft box. That's it.

3D stuff at around 50 to to 60 ft.

Inverted hovering stuff at about 8 to 10 ft.

I try to keep it all in a 100 yard side to side and 150 dp.

I like flying low cause I can see what in doing. When trying new moves I go up kinda high till I know what to do then bring it down lower and lower till im on the deck .For me it seem if I keep it up high trying the same move it takes a long time to get it right.Bringing it down lower I can see what im doing really good and I feel like I have alot more control over the heli cause I can see it good.

I like to mix it up. Anywhere from smashing into the ground all the way up to 1000+ feet.

Doing stuff I'm comfortable with, right on the deck. Learning new stuff, a few mistakes high. Just flipping and rolling around with a few pirouettes here and there, I'll get right on the deck. Fast backwards or inverted circuits, I do about 15-20ft up. Snakes (which I haven't mastered yet) 50+ ft. All depends on how comfortable I am with THAT particular maneuver. I fly from 2 ft to 300ft (big loops are FUN)!

My problem that I have is flying big. Before flying helis, I used to fly airplanes in patterns. Naturally, my heli flying is very "pattern" like, using the whole field. That makes it difficult for me to fly at fun flys because most guys fly in a small "box" I guess that is what I am comfortable with and what I enjoy.
I tell people all the time, "do what you enjoy and try things that you want to try. Have your own style" Flying big is my style

You don't have 200 feet in your backyard. I'd say more like a 75 foot box with a tree to contend with. LoL

Yea, my back yard is 100 x 60. It's tough! At the field though I do keep with in a 200 foot radius. By the way Cuzz, Monday I put in my 450 pretty hard up at sweatland! Kinda sucks. Here goes another rebuild.

I'm not doing 3D as of yet so I tend to use a lot of real estate when I fly. I also like to fly fairly low. My altitude ranges from roughly 15 feet to 50 feet. If I an going to do some flips or something, I'll go up higher. I doubt I have ever been higher than 100 feet. I'll watch my fellow club members take their planks up to amazing heights and all I can think is "no way am I taking my helicopter up there". Part of the joy I get from flying is seeing the helicopter being all helicoptery, and it's hard to get that if it is a dot 300 feet up so I like to keep it close in.

Guess that means I need a 90...

I like to fly from the top of a small hill. I can be 3 mistakes off the ground without having the heli out of sight.

Last Sunday I was flying 3.1 mistakes high and made 3 mistakes, and the killer save. Whew.

Try to keep as much as possible under 15 feet for sure, over half under 10ft for sure. Depends on where you are at and what your style is, there is no right or wrong way.

unless it is a tailslide or a loop, everything is on the deck. this is what makes you stand out as a pilot.

I was waiting for someone to say tail slides - if I start too low doesn't make much of a whoof... I tend to fly like some of the others, new at 100+ feet and then bring it down. The down part is my issue as there is "shrubbery" at my field that sometimes grows to 3-4ft tall - so rarely lower then 10ft unless I'm at a paved field and even then mostly just inverted that low...
