Hi,

Has anyone had any issues with the main gear on the 50 '09?

I ask as on the first set of Tic Toc's tried on this machine (3rd flight), the Main Gear completely stripped

3D?? No - just another input error!!!

Hi,

Can I ask if you elongated the holes in the frame and adjusted the mesh or just went with the stock setup?

Thanks

Mesh...

I believe mine are elongated and adjustable...I have the mesh set correctly...but it's been so long since I set it up I cannot honestly remember if came that way or if I did it...

I am very into the electrics so I am very anal about setting up the proper mesh/lash

I will check my machine tonight though and snap some pics

Hi Gents,

The holes on the '09 are not elongated so one presumes that the manufacturer has set the mesh in the design

No matter, the distributer here in the UK suggests that the Novarossi 57 may be too much for the frame - similar to a few others!! A real shame seeing as that the stripped gear cost me a £200 engine when it let go

Either way, I have had to buy spares and have now switched back to an OS Hyper. The fact that I am now FBL means that the power balance has almost been addressed so I look forward to flying hopefully without issue!

Happy to post updates if not the case

Cheers

When you started this post I checked mine and was not happy with the engagement . I drilled out the pinion mounting holes to 4mm and that got me far enough .

As far as the power being to much thats crap . Get that gear mesh correct and stick that engine back in ! I plan on starting next season with a ys61 stuffed in mine . I'm putting a OS hyper carb on my redline right now . That should get me close to the power of that 55 as others are saying .

Crap?? My pal said the same

I was going to try an OS carb on my 57 before it blew. I may just perform the rebuild, drill the frame to 4mm and give it a go

Cheers

Find the tightest spot on the main gear ,mark it , drill the frame , put a peice of paper between the gears , shove them together and tighten the bolts with some loctite on the threads !

Give her a beating ! She be back for more !
