I have been interested in flybarless for quite some time now, and finally had the chance to try it. My buddy has a 700 w/vbar. He let me fly it the other day and I did not like it at all. I felt completely disconnected with the heli and every move felt delayed. It may just be that it takes some time to get used to but I sure like my flybarred 700 alot better. So I think that I will be sticking to Flybar for a while.

Vbar

If it felt delayed and disconnected then something was not set up right...a vbar machine should feel EXACTLY opposite that...it should feel MUCH more locked in and responsive than a flybarred heli.

Cyclics can be set to be so much more aggressive on a flybarless machine that there is no comparison to a flybarred heli.

Keep in mind that they do take a little bit of getting used to as well...to judge the way a flybarless heli "Feels" or flies it takes more than 1 flight or 30 seconds of hovering to accurately start making jdgements...

My sk360 felt the same way. Then my flybarless mentor did some tweeking. Now, it has that flybarred feeling! No holding the sticks for loops or circles. Fig 8's are easy.

my buddy is a hot pilot and active on both forums.

he flew the 700 FBL and is selling all his helis now to get one.

the heli you flew was set up wrong, all i heard were words like pressence and gracefull and I have to have it this guy would not play with something that left a sour thought like your experience

I have a 700E with V-bar and it is really locked in feeling. The one you flew was not set up correctly. I am sure of that. Once I got my 700E V-barr I wished I could afford to make all my helis flybarless.

Did your keyboard come with that big bottle of Haterade?

ya the person probably had there gains on the swash too low is he a scale flyer? because vbar has a way more locked in feeling then a flybar movements should be instant and in fact you can set it up to be FASTER then you can move the stick there a pitch pump option that increases the throws the faster you move the stick so if you move it slow its normal but move it fast and BOOM full pitch in a quarter stick for a small amount of time its amazing

I am certainly not what anyone would call a hard core 3d'er. I have significantly detuned my vbar helis to make them more smoothe and stable. Don't get me wrong, they will still outperform plenty of what others might call highly tuned helis. And, I still get more than 6 minutes of flight time and a quieter, sexier heli.

The point is that if your friend flew one of mine he might say the same thing - disconnected, delayed, etc. That, my friend, is simply a matter of tuning. Five minutes on a laptop will change that.

You guys might be right. He likes flying it that way. His setup wasn't for me. I am still interested in it, just worried that I may not like it.

yup your buddy needs to take some time and get it setup properly as what you describe as said by others is opposite of the impression you should have, that is guranteed.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

Good point! It should feel better than a fly bared machine.
Mine certainly do. If yours doesn't you need to tweak some more!!!

To each their own though...I just switched to flybarless a few months ago. I'm not claiming to be a "hot" pilot or even a mediocre one. It took me at least 3 flights to start to get comfortable with it but my excitement, enjoyment, and love for flybarless grew exponentially from there!

Seriously, give it more than 1 flight before you make a judgement and to add to others comments, maybe find someone that flies like you and try theirs.

My opinion.

Paddles-B-Gone

I'm new to FBL but if you didn't like it from the get-go....
... Something must be wrong in the set-up.
There's no going back to paddles for me.
