I have a couple of the TT53's. Go with TT smoothy for sure. I don't know why, but I had a TT pipe break and since I had an MP5 in my stuff, I switched it out and went flying. Not the same power. It was noticable. I ordered a new pipe the same day......

TT had some problems with the smoothy breaking. From what I've heard they were good about replacing them.

I have a MP50SB on one of my RL's - runs great. What I've read is the SB version is much better for the RL than the standard MP5. I also have a Hatori SB-50JK, also great pipe but pricey and bends easy. I'd buy the MP50SB again.

Are you changing the gear ratio for the new engine? When I see

it makes me wonder if you are actually trying to end up with a R50.

I may do the same thing (upsize to a .50) in the near future.

wc_wickedclown-
Buy the Curtis MP5 SB version, You will not be disappointed with it!
It will have a strong solid pull, tunes easy and a nice sound to it for the Redline 53!
Plus! In the learining stages of "Beating and 3D'ing" the muffler can take a pretty solid hit when you crash!
Hatori's may make more power but the cost for the learing curve of replacement gets expensive.
Curtis Youngblood made the pipe solid and "semi" crash worthy!

(I've been there hitting the dirt getting lower and lower!)

This is important, if you did not change to 50 gears (8.5 ratio), than you need to keep headspeed under 1780 or you will damage your 53.

I to converted a 30 up to a 50 but kept the 550 blades and the 30 boom.I ran a headspeed on idle up 1 of 1950 and it was a rocket with plenty of power at -9+11 pitch.but you must change the gearing to the 50 gears, otherwise you will not be in the right powerband for that engine.

it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission
