Hi All,

I need to add 100g to my tail in order to acheive a balanced C of G. Is this excessive

Thought I'd post the 'front end' pics in case anyone could offer any (polite) suggestions

I don't know how else to jig this around

Cheers

P.S Am using a v2 canopy too.

3D?? No - just another input error!!!

Dont see anything out of the ordinary there, do not add weight to the tail a little nose heavy is good on a heli and it will fly foward better and not effect the hover at all.Yogi

you do want the heli balanced otherwise the trim you have setup for right side up hover will push you forward when you are upside down.

Are there two batteries up front? Can you move one of those to the rear, say on top of the tail transmission?

polite suggestion - a little <more> spiral wrap and some velcro strips - actually some of those wires are close to the CF frame members and may cut through the wires.

where is the CG supposed to be? Directly down the main shaft?

Turn the heli knife edge and hold the grips so the blades are up and down (perpendicular to the floor) to let the heli pivot around the main shaft.

yes - quick way to check is to pop the links off the main blade grips and pick up the heli by the grips with them sticking straight out to the sides. You can also check by picking it up by the flybar (near the root) just be careful not to bend it. heli should stay level

EDIT: DWS6 method is best.

What's a Flybar??

Seriously though, Thanks for the replies so far. I would normally be happy with a little nose heavy but I run a Mikado vBar and whilst it flies OK, I understand performance will improve with the C of G being spot on.

The wires are 'bare' as I have been moving everything around. Need to tidy them up once good balance is achieved.

Keep the comments coming

Cheers

Are you checking CG with the canopy on and 1/2 tank of fuel?

I am indeed

Just wondered if 100g was unusual?

Checking it knife edge is the most accurate way to do it. I do this before I add a battery which makes it tail heavy. I add weight to the nose where the battery mounts and then buy a battery as close to that weight as possible. You can usually move the weight around under the electronics tray to get the best CG. Im my opinion, 100g is a lot on the tail as that is very far back on the heli when leverage is factored in.

also, On my 700 FBL I found that mounting the sensor for the Vbar actually worked better using two pieces of foam tape with a metal plate rather then just that one piece that you have. Fly it and see how it works for you and if you have issues, remount your sensor.

Quick...here comes my wife....hide that new Heli !!!!

No issues with the FBL at present - flies like a Pattern Ship. Just thought I'd do as the instructions ask re. the C of G.

I did however need thicker tape on my 50. The supplied tape was no good and the heli was all over the place

You've got a Header tank I notice, with this full and the main tank half full it should add about 100g or so to the back end.

fly a rubber heli - it's cheaper!

Another way of shifting some weight to the rear would be to mount the tail servo on the boom

Yes you should move the pack back or use lighter lipo pack. The vbar will react better if cg neutral at half tank. I had to move my lipo closer to the main shaft to achieve proper cg.

My suggestions comes with a cost . Skeptrum 7100R on RR 150.oo. then sale your Reg. 50.oo Rx 100.oo Gov. 80.oo hey now your up 80.oo and your wire will be alot easier and cleaner. Wait i didn't look at your cyclic sevros but Perfect Reg. mades a reg thats small light and only 50.00 still up 30.oo for a gal of fuel... bet you will need to remove the header tank then... Just a thought...

123 pack

Get the new Hyperion life pack. then get rid of your regulator, voltage will be fine and you can charge it very quickly.
Mount it on the bottom where your Reg is now. You can slide it further back to help your CG.
