As long as you clean your muffler bearings with dehydrated dihydrogen monoxide, they'll last a lifetime anyway.

Everytime my eng backfires it blows the grease out of my bearings. I keep repacking them and it backfires again. I tried shielded bearings, ceramic bearings, even masking tape. Is there any cure? Thanks in advance.....

are you using muffler bearing grease? thats probably the problem get some high quality muffler bearing grease that withstands the high heat basically your muffler bearing grease your using is melting then clogging the muffler back pressure is causing the backfire

Muffler bearings are highly toxic. I recommend handling them only with a good length of quality shoreline - 50 feet or so.

well you know there's alot of vibration in the muffler when the engines running it keeps the mufflers insides running smooth. inside the muffler there's spinning devices that regulate airflow, kinda like those lawn fans u blow in they turn. well same principle the resistance cause by these spinning fans is what causes the engine to run right (hence there's tuned pipes the way they tune the pipe is change the angle/size of the fans inside to be optimum for the engine) anyways the fans have bearings like all rotating parts hence Muffler bearings. now since there really hot in there you need some high quality muffler bearing grease to make sure they run smooth otherwise you get that rattling noise

when flying a diesel head you must replace them at the same time you replace the diesel spark plugs it all part of proper maintenance and tune up. just make sure if its a Davis head you get a metric crescent wrench.

Hey Helidevil

If ya go to NAPA they can special order any size muffler barring and they all come with high heat muffler barring grease and the metric crescent wrench to install them. If you can afford it get the marine ver they last longer.

The rattling will go away after a short time, their purpose is to make everything smooth as it exits the tail pipe. After it stops rattling, you would be hard pressed to notice a difference.
