Well, I want 2000 head speed with 6.4, or 6.9..I'm still testing this because I'm configuring it to the 620 wide chord blades...

With 6.9 at 13860 which is the highest I have run that would produce 2008 rpm...You'll have the choice of either 6.4 or 6.9 which is lower

the 6.4 is the 13 to 84 then?is the stk gearing 14 /84?at 6/1.
so what would the 6.9 gearing be 12 /84?so it sounds like you are gearing it lower for more pulling power. makes sense to me , with the 6 to one gearing 13800 rpms is 2300 headspeed . I like headspeed but that might be a bit much for longevity with a plastic head.sounds to me like the 6.4 ratio is the one i'll whant 2150 is a good headspeed for 3D and aggresive sport flying.

To much power is never enough.

Radikal

Thanks Bill, I'm not a big fan of Century but they got a winner here. Bill I'm not to worry about the feathering shaft, Raptor been using a 6mm for a long time, I think it will be fine for my type of flying, what's the next funfly you going to. Bobby

Damn it, I spent the money and bought a 600N days before these became available! That really looks great. I even like the bleach bottle with the stock stickers.

the bleach bottle looks the same as my nx 50 and it looks good .i like that the mounting looks the same as for the ravens so i can mix and match canopies, I whant to do a night canopy useing a raven and then just swap the canopy and blades from bird to bird, that way will save alot of money, will just need 3 sets of lights and drivers for the tail, skids and braces.

To much power is never enough.

What batteries to use

I'm new to gassers and nitro so what battery would be good to use for the electronic ignition? Horizon says 4.8V 2400. What is everyone using?

Also what size receiver pack would be good?

So what gearing do you recommend Bill?
No hard 3D but for quick responce.

Cheers

Right now the only choice you have is the 14/84 for 6.0. That is what you saw in the video, and it pulled better than the conversions at 6.2

I want 6.4, and 6.9, which is already in the works..These lower gears will be the optimum for 3D for this machine....

Why do you feel you have to keep defending the Radikal against the conversions as you call them? If it pulled well with 6:0 then why not just say that?

6.0 that's steep

Bill you should go for the 6.9. Even the 6.4 is steep and not the best choice for 3D. Gear it for 3D and you can fly it for AP. Gear it for AP and you can't fly it for 3D.

I'd go with the 6.9 setup, I'm sure it will be excellent with that.

I'm not defending anything.. Just something to compare to.. Don't let it blow your skirt up...
When you were working on yours, I told you it needed much lower gear like 6.9. this was way before the release.
I wanted this from the get go, but trying to convince the engineers to quit going by airplane documentation is much different.
They know now

..
There is no question it pulls better even at 6.0.. That is because of the better cooling and drive train...

The 6.4 and 6.0 is good for novice...Its easier for them to tune without the alot of hassel... Century done this with the Predator with very good success. 6.2, and 6.4..

When you get into the very low ratios, things change, at least on the 231, and 26...
This engine is very good and tunes much different since you are primarlly tuning with the high.
I'm thinking it will be just as easy from the way its been tuning so far...
Should be getting the gears by the end of the week..

Yep you did offer help on a few occasions and I’m sure I thanked you for it but mine you have to remember was backyard engineering so I couldn’t just call on the engineers to make me one so I had to make do with what was available at the time but even with the 6:29 pulling 680 blades it never suffered from cooling problems but then it wouldn’t because I used all Century parts on the drive train apart from the pinion.

Radikal

Bill we both know that 20cc engine is a little power house and I’m sure the Radikal will out sell all the Century Gasser Range in time although if it wasn’t for the large amount of people requesting a 50 size gasser after reading the 20 cc conversion threads I doubt century would have built one. I don’t need to wish them luck because as I said its a great engine in a well designed Century air frame.

I personally didn’t like having two battery packs plus the standard pull start was very hard to use and needed a knack to start it without bending the skids and nearly pulling the heli apart so if Raja comes up with the Generator and century have addressed the pull start issue it will be a all out winner.

Why would the helicopter be pulling itself apart? Is there something wrong with the way the pull start works?
