hey guys, I have a NIB Vision 50. Also have the V2 upgrade parts. I know that alot of negative things have been said about this heli. What would you suggest to make it reliable for sport flying or should I just sell it and try something different?

Mine is near a year old. Since you have the update kit for it just build it and fly it. Read some of the build threads here and follow the advice, should keep you out of most of the known issues.

A metal pitch fork wouldnt hurt anything. Also you can sign up for a Upgrade kit for the model. Despite all the negative comments, there are hundreds of these running across Europe without any problems. Are there a few problems? yes, but ElyQ is working hard to fix the issues.

If you are going to do sport flying, I couldnt think of a better machine to do so with. Cheap to buy, and cheap to fix.

Do download the form on ElyQ's site, and present it to your preferred dealer, and when they come available, you will receive one.

I put a metal pitch slider on mine, it's a 'V1' first batch kit. I think the newer design may be better, don't know. For $7 I'll just put a metal fork on there and not worry about the tail for blowing apart. I glad that ElyQ changed the tail hub fastening to use a grub screw then a bolt - quite clever.

I would also suggest either swapping the landing gear struts out for aftermarket or boiling the stock ones. Not sure if the boiling trick would make them more pliable or not but they do snap way too easy. I've been threw at least 4 sets - only one set really should have broken at that was a wreck.

Check the clutch gap. Mine was *way* too big and resulted in a broken clutch within two gallons. Since relining the bell the clutch has been great. - ElyQ/<old distributor> replaced the clutch for me as a warranty item.

Definitely check the runout on the clutch. Mine was out too far. I fixed it by shimming it in the fan hub with some aluminum foil. Got it inside .002

vision 50

Gonna call Chris at RcHeliworkz tomorrow and get the slider. Already have the upgrade form. What blades would you recommend, main and tail, for just sport flying? Was also thinking of using some Tower 160 digital servos on the cyclic. I was kind of wondering about the landing struts. They seem pretty flexible to me. Do I need to change the tail hub as well?

For blades you can use just about any of the bigger names, I'd recommend the standard weight blades, not the 3D 'ultra light' blades for sport flying. Radix Std. are great, Rotortech's are my favorite. Those are expensive but you can shop around and find a decent set of sticks for under $80/set. For sport flying you might like the 620mm blades. For the tail stick with the stock blades, they work just fine - same with the paddles.

for the servos I can't find any information on the motors inside them. If they are 3-pole motors I would suggest spending a bit more money and get some coreless servos. The Align DS610's are great for the money, I have a set on my Trex-700. They can run up to straight Lipo voltage and are super fast and accurate which is what a Vision needs. The Vision uses very long servo arms directly hooked to the swash so you need good strong accurate servos. If you already have these servos I'm sure they'd work but if you are buying new I'd suggest some digital coreless servos.
