I bought one this Spring for my Raptor 50. Over 70 flights on it this season with no problems. There is a switch on the side of the reg. Depending on your mounting it may be hard to reach. Install a HD switch or us an electrical connector like an ultra deans to open and close the circuit.

There is a switch on the reg, however if you mount the reg under the canopy it may be difficult/inconvenient to reach. I leave the switch on and add my own where it is more accessible.

Those who tried this, if you're using 2S lipo and 1 cell fails, does the regulator still function? Based on the specs the input voltage is around 7.4V (2S).

I just crashed with my SDX using 2S on a switching BEC when 1 cell just gave up, regulator froze (cut-off) resetting my RX and tail putting my heli in to a dive-crash.

pretty much any regulator is going to cause that, especially on 2.4g systems. spektrum i beleive has a 3.5v min, if it goes under that, then it will reboot/brownout. xps 2.4g systems have a higher voltage for reboot/brownouts and 4.2-4.5v.

if one of the cells is a 2s packs goes, i dont think there is any regulator on the market that is going to allow you to still be airborn, even if you werent running a regulator and one cell decides to take a vacation, your only still getting 3.7v and with numerous servos running at the same time, that will safely be about 3.2v so your rx still wants to reboot/brownout.

I want to know too.

Also, has anyone known any radio lockout or brownout reported using this perfect regulator? I do a search and could not find any mishap.

well, the reactor x supplies the rx with 5v while supplying the 3 cyclic servos with a selected 6v or 6.8v.

the regulator in this thread is a 6v regulator, so it feeds 6v to the rx, but has a 5v output as well that feeds the rudder servo.

but they do have a regulator that is comparable to the reactor x, in which it feeds 5v to the rx and the output voltage to the cyclic servos is fully adjustable (by this, i mean you can set the cyclic servos voltage as intricate as .1v incriments), so you can really adjust it and not use one of two preset outputs.

>>AZ_heliguy: Thanks! But would using 3S (my regulator is capable of 2S-3S) solve the problem? So if one cell die I would still get 7.4V? I just rebuilt my heli and am about to try 3S while still awaiting my Fromeco. From now on I'm now going to use Korean-made Lipos (Polyquest), or better yet Li-Ions for RX pack.

>>rudyy: replied to your PM.

Thanks guys.

you can use a 3s pack on the regulator, but the regulator will get warmer then if using a 2s. i think what happened to you with one of the cells in your 2s pack going bye-bye is a fluke kind of thing and you probably may never have it happen again (then again, it could).
