I just got a 450 size UH-1 It looks great but the mounting instructions are all but non existant. Does anyone know if the tail boom on the 450 needs to be cut down or how much it needs to be cut down? I tried fitting the included belt and 45 deg extension on the 450 and the belt isnt long enough without cutting the boom down.

Found it

Heli artist has a set of instructions that outline how to set the tail up. Its a shame that nothing was provided by RC Aerodyne

my 450 huey from rcaerodyne came today. No tail boom extension. So yours came with one?

Did you get the military or civilian version?

Wow

I got the military version. I ordered the civilian version for a friend. I hope it comes with the extension. Did you contact RC Aerodyne to see if it was just missing from the box? I just jumped out to the site both versions say they come with the longer belt and the extension. You should give them a call.

Yeah, I have talked tocliff this morning via email and its on the way.

I really like this fuse though. Nice paint and it seems to fit good.

The tail cowling that will fit on the end after the 45 degree boom is installed, how do you plan to attach this? I was told with 4 screws.

Im thinking of looking into velcro insted

Screws

I'll throw a couple of small screws in each side. I'm dont sure that velcro will workout for this. Your bound to get some viberation at the tail and the velcro may come off or allow the halves to rub.

I guess the thinness of the fibreglass and how close it will be to the edge just makes me cringe about drilling it

Also trimming the end for the boom to stick out will be tough. But Im guessing if I want to be a scale builder I have to suck it up and just do it

I will let you know how mine is going. Feel free to pm me at anytime and keep me posted of your build.
Thanks

I just cut the boom down and cut a mounting plate for the mechanics.
I havent had any time to get to work on this. I'm hoping to it today.

I will be putting up some pics this weekend, more than likely saturday evening of the Civilian Model. I dont have to tail boom hardware yet but when I get it I will post up some good detailed pics of the kit. It was hard to tell from the website what all wa in the kit and how big the fuse was.
But, the guys at RCAerodyne have been very good and I think as they get going a little better the site will have more detail pics.

But I do plan on doing a good write up with pics on my build

I hope to have my UH-1 here sometime this week. But until then take a look at another great fuse by rcaerodyne. Its the 500 size EC-145 that I converted to the army's UH-72.

Scale or 3D? Now thats a question!!!!!!

UH1's

Well last Friday evening, good flying buddy aka:ea01bg, Brian, showed up at BS1 (that is for Basement Shop #1) and had this box in his hand.... and said he would like to get these up and running by "next" weekend..... the civilian version is mine and the military belongs to Brian.....
So we went ahead and got started.... the pic's were taken Saturday evening and Sunday at our field.... We used HK 450's,and Xtec.net lights (added cool factor)
Although both suffered from tail failures that were caused by the mechanics we used (plastic drive gear for the belt) not anything to do with the kits....the only negative would be the instructions are less then vague, but Brian has talked to Cliff since, and it sounds as if he is going to update them..... just a couple of things added will make it a lot easier for any builder..... so, our FLEETS continue to EXPAND!!!!! And I can remember Brian telling me that he didn't ever see himself with more then 1, MAYBE 2 helis.... He has it "BAD" (ask him how he gets his wife to cut the lawn while he goes flying!!!!:confused
