Hey Guys,

Have one of the little gems in the post to me.

I am a expereinced builder but always like to know of any tips and or pitfalls others have found whilst building the kit.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

make sure the main drive train is properly aligned. I just put the main shaft in the bearing blocks before tightening the bolts... also the usual.. take every preassembled part apart and apply, or reapply lock tight.

I find the harder I "throw down" at the field... the more peices i have to pick up.

Here is a copy of what i have posted on the freaky site...

OK, I have built/rebuilt these velocity's a few times & I figured Id start a list to help out guys just starting a build....

This list is not exhaustive, but its what I have collected so far..

1. use a small round file or carefully with a dremel, open the holes for the canopy break away tabs so that the post bolt does not bind in the frame (it will save frames)

2. Make sure you install fuel lines before installing the tank, both the main fuel line & the pressure line are hard to get to afterwards

3. rotate the main shaft collar 90 degrees from the flats on the main shaft, use a second main shaft spacer or use a clamp style collar to prevent the collar from popping up - NEW KITS HAVE DIFFERENT COLLAR

4. Make sure you put some kind of oil in the main autorotation bearing & the clutch one way bearing - 2in1 works great

5. Dont overtighten the paddle set screws

6. When installing the elevator bellcrank (the one outside the frames), there are 2 set screws, make sure you tighten the one against the flat on the control rod first, then tighten the other

7. Use some CA or red locktite when pressing the control rod bearings into the side frames

I will add to the list if I think or find anything else..
But basically this is just about the easiest machine to build, and best of all, flys great...

For the pressure line from the tank to the muffler, CA a grommet to the hole in the frame, then run the pressure line through the grommet.

Head is almost complete.

Links were really tight. Used heat froma hair dryer to ease them up and they snapped on. Reading else where these will bed in after a few flights.

A point for others. Verniers are a help for building the head. Outrage give very previse measurements of the links down to 1/4mm for set up. I had to eye ball them like most I am sure.

So far everything has fitted very nicely.

Main Fuss finished

Points to note.

Quite straight forward.Just keep note where you put all you bolts as you build one half.

I omitted the washers holding the landing gear blocks to the frames as the would not sit flush when the washers were fitted.

The engine mount I left until the engine was ready to mount

I loosened and retightened all bearing blocks once the whole frame was together with the mainshaft in so they could find their natural centre.

Starting on the tail.
