Peronsally for anyone to say it is an advantage I dis agree in some terms and here is why.

For me I have found that flybarless "makes" you fly through a maneveur. A simple piroflip will look like crap, many who can piroflip all day long and reverse grab any Logo of mine and they all have said, "man that's abit tough". Only cause it sees every mistake you make as it is just that accurate in translation. The positive is that if you learn how to do a maneuveur good it shows and looks great. The flybar heli will float and fall into moves, where the flybarless makes you go into or correct as you fall, this is really noticeable when you fly a flybar heli as it looks different cause you are used to always flying it through spots that on a flybar heli sometime you let it drop into a position.

That's been my experience, it takes getting used to but it is a really connected feeling and quite rewarding. I don't think it has made me or anyone I know better persay, but the simplicity in repair alone is a very attractive reason and so much less to worry about in setup, and hell, it looks cool!!!

Of course there are the gains of flight time, feeling of power etc, there are just alot of real good reasons to be flybarless really. It is something that anyone that tries a well setup flybarless machine appreciates in the very first flight.

I believe flybars will be around, for awhile. It's like the N vs E debate, some will always want to fiddle. BUT I think it is VERY obvious that the market with flybarless is growing at an amazing rate and is a proof in pudding technology. I have yet to meet anyone who has given it an honest try on a well setup machine say they didn't like it, most are asking where they can order one that night, lol...

One day my signature will be laughed at, I'll say that was old school to bug peeps

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

+1 on spoiled the second i flew one. all my money sent right to germany :/

in fact, any new heli i ever build will be FBL out of the box. no sense even putting it together with paddles 'just to see'....there's no point in 'seeing'. it needs a vbar.

if any of my helis don't have a vbar now, its because i havent gotten enough saved to put one on it. i have absolutely zero use for a flybar with the exception of my 250. i just can't justify spending 100% of a heli's current cost on a piece of electronics.....................yet.

if it ain't broke…break it.

It's been years since I've been at the field when this cold out - addiction sucks.

I know how ya feel Rob, I seriously can't put it down! With my 450 I charge 6 lipos at a time in well under 30 minutes. I can fly pretty much back to back indefinately. A couple friends were joking about doing an intervention on me.

It's no given, Its all about if you

a) keep the same headspeed, getting more power output
b) keep same HS, but fly using same power (less pitch)
c) lower the HS since you can, and gain the most flighttime.

For me, I tend to run a little lower HS, with a little more pitch (since I can).
Its the cyclic that really robs power, so in hovering you aint gonna gain as much as if you use alot of cyclic.

I watched a guy over this past weekend fly a flybarless heli with out the use of a stabilazation unit. He did have a new set of baldes that were ment for flybarless heads. the machine seem to fly great with no tendency to pitch up in fast forward flight, as I have herd they do. I have never flown a flybarless machine, so I don't know what they are sopposed to fly like.

Yup, you can fly without FBL electronics, just as you can fly with a rate or even mechanical gyro on the tail too, if you want to.

However, if you tried the difference between VBar 4.0 and "Naked", you will know.

Naked Flying..

I tried the "Naked" flybarless thing myself...and let me tell you something...it was NOT FUN at all

I fly nothing but flybarless now and have been for a long time...if I had to fly without a stabilizaton unit I'd just fly with a flybar instead...

I scanned the thread and didn't see this mentioned:

Does it work on mechanical mixed machines? ie raptor

Yes, most of them do mechanical mixing, VBar included

YES...

As long as you meet the Criteria for Flybarless...

make a swash driver, zero delta and have sufficient resolution(meaning linkages on main grips are 25-30mm from center in most cases)

Anthony, my naked FBL experience is just the opposite of yours.
I love the way my naked FBL heli flies that I'll never go back to a flybar.
I'm sure if I had been flying stab systems before going to a naked FBL setup... I'd probably feel the same as you! I flew the flybar since day one and love the FBL 1000 times over.
Its comparing apples to oranges, They're similar in many ways yet still very different. I like both!

Don't forget, you got me hooked on FBL. LoL

I just recently set-up my first FBL heli, a Logo500 V-bar with a Mini-V and what an awesome machine! I'm probably gonna take the Mini-V off and put it on my 450pro and stretch the l500 to a l600 with a full size V-bar. The initial set-up was a little complicated only because I didnt read the manual and its completly different than setting up a FB heli.

step one: have lots and lots of money
step two: spend it on a flybarless head and an electronic stabilization system
step three: install the expensive stuff on your helicopter
