Hey Cranester,

Before you stretch, read F1Rockets thread in the F3C section about his e-rex 700, and the difficulties he had setting up the head at slow speed. I think if you run 800-830's at lower headspeeds, you might get some performance issues.

Also, check the dimensions on the 700 for tail clearance, you might be able to swing 790's in gentle flight without hitting the tails....

Hope it helps!

I concur about the low headspeed on the stock T700 head. Below about 1500 and it begins to wobble. It's just too stiff. I ended up converting to a Raptor 90 flybar head in order to turn slower RPM (1300). I did not stretch it though so I can offer no advice on that subject.

Yeah You are probably right about the head, I remember I had some issues with that when I first set it up, maybe it's better to leave it alone and not make it angry.

Hola Juan,

I'm building my T700, and i'm planning to stretch it too.

I was looking for some info, and found this http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t512978p1/

I don't like the way he stretched the tail boom, so looking for aluminium tube in that diameter i found that here, in Spain, the esxtension pole used for painting and a simple broom uses this diameter.

For the torque tube, i'm thinking in use carbon fiber tube to replace the original.

good luck with your conversion.

Sorry for the forum link, it's just the 700 manual.

Cheers,

One way of extending the boom is using a motorized tail.

For my stretched 600 to 700 parts include:

1. Extended motor shaft (got it done at a local firm)
2. 910 kv brushless motor (after many trials, found this to be the best kv)
3. Align 75 amp ESC (did not use governor) + extension for the 3 output wires (don't extend battery wire!).
4. 4S1P lipos.
5. Bolted motor directly onto the Trex 600 plastic case.
6. Stock Trex 700 boom.

Very low power consumption, and motor comes down warm (not hot).
Don't see why this won't work for a 700 to 800 stretch.

Of course, the main rotor head issues need to be solved first.

Documented stretch of a 600 to a 700 with photos and parts required (also converted to A123, but just ignore the power system part if you're sticking with lipos.)
