OK I have an issue with my Trex600 with JR770 and 8900G servo.
My flying skill has improved alot in the poast few months and I see a blatant issue with my tail rotor.

While flying across the field I have been spinning 180, flying backwards and doing multiple rolls, followed by a forward flip. What I noticed was often, maybe not everytime but more than 1/2 the time as I rotate nose left (this would be counter the main blade rotation) the heli would stop at 90 degress to the flight path. Like it just locks at that point. Now eventually it will come the rest of the way. IN testing I can confirm I have even given FULL left rudder and it still does the same thing. I have not tested in the opposite direction.

Some more informatoin. Have always had this setup on my 600. Have not changed the setup much from the recommended stock setip except to increase the piro rate via increasing the end points to somewhere about 112 each end. I setup this tail and checked set the hover in normal mode as well so there was no drift when I am out of heading hold. My setup is 2 years plus 2 months old now. I am running the OS50 and main blades at 2180Rpms. There is no resistance in the linkage. I can piro both ways during a climb out and see no issues there. I am running a Fromeco regulator set to @ 5.4 volts with a 2600 LiOn battery and get 6 flights Easy on it. Typically I consume
250mah to 350mah depending on how hard I push the collective,(tic tocs or no tic tocs But I have seen this behavior for almost a year if not since the beginning. The fact I am pushing myself harder makes it obvious now there is some issue here.

It was suggested maybe my 8900G servo was at fault, just old and having issues. I am ready to throw parts at this issue to correct it now, because I find myself trying to compensate for it and thats not a viable solution-long run. It prevents my learning progression.

My thoughts are maybe the servo IS bad, (as it seems it cannot fight the wind.)

I have a Futaba 520 on my Protos and thinking I might just move it to the 600 to try this as a fix, but thats not going to be my first choice as I really dont want to change up the Protos.

Have any of you had similar issues and what did you find or what would you try to isolate and correct this issue.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

might try some longer and stiffer tail blades first. Also check to make sure the tail control rod can't bend. Do you have full throw on the tail both directions? I'd play with inexpensive stuff before throwing a lot of money on gyro/servo. I find it hard to believe that your 8900 is a problem otherwise it wouldn't hold backwards flight. Another thought, lower your gain a couple of points, maybe even get fancy and custom mix a lower gain as you move the rudder over.

I had the same problem with my 600 same R770 and 8900G gyro combo. I fixed it by putting another two tail guides on the boom and a carbon stiffener on the front tail control rod.
You may also find if you are loading the head and loosing head speed you will also loose tail authority, when you piro to the left as you are asking the tail to do more work as opposed to a right piro when you unload the tail (I think I got that the right way round)
