How long should I be able to hold my finger on the back plate of my os 37 in my century hawk when i have been hovering for a few mins? At the moment it is only 3-5 seconds. I can richen it up to make it cooler but it just does not seem to run very well on a rich setting. It is going really well just the way it is but I am just concerned it could be a running a bit hot.

Thats a bit short. Most say 5-6 sec. If it runs good at that setting try riching the idle needle (screw driver needle)but just ever so slightly, less than a 1/16 turn. 2-3 sec is too lean for sure and you can get that 37 to run very very good. Its a good motor

Hovering at a low head speed will be different than a full all out run. It will heat up totally different at higher head speeds. Your probably fine at a hover speed but watch out as the heat will rise at higher rpm.. Also the engine will heat up when shut down VS running, (heat soak). So check it as soon as possible from a run.
