I don't intend this thread to be replacement for existing XPS review thread. Rosauro,Robert and others have done a fantastic job.

I am planning to invest in DJI XPS 1.3 as we are getting many requirements to inspect tall structures (upto 400ft). Its a big investment so I thought its worth to start this thread.

Users who have purchased the equipment I wanted to know their good and bad inputs.

If you are using it actively to do Aerial Filming/Photography business. I will be excited to know how good the system has been till now, using it at various shoot sites ,terrains ,altitudes ,temperatures ,electromagnetically rich sites etc.

If you feel you did not have a pleasing experience please let me know (you can PM me your observations).

I want to make sure the money I spend is a prudent decision.

Best investment I have made.

It works amazingly well,

- Never had issues with satelites
- It's quite simple to set up
- I had some trouble with descent speed but after tweaking a little I got a decent descent rate

I haven't had for to long but no seriouse "buts" until now, also Robert will help you out till its perfectly tuned.

I am very close to buying one also however I am having difficulty with the need for a governor. My aircraft is a Bergen Turbine Observer, the Wren turbine doesnt have any type of governor. The Jetcat has some type of governor. The DJI would be a big investment for it to not work very well without the governor. I have talked to many DJI owners, reps and the manufacturer. They have not been put on a Wren without a governor. Part of me wants to just try it out.... but I am hoping someone else might!

Why would you NEED a governor?

I don't think it's a requirement.

Juan,
While in AUTO mode the XP3.1 doesn't know how much throttle to apply to every pitch change so you need the governor to take over rotor RPMs.
This is for internal combustion helicopters while for electrics governor can be set up easier from the ESC.

Ok but pitch corrections in auto mode are really so small that I don't think the gov is a must, I use fixed end points in my t rex 700 and it works great. But then again I have little experience with combustion engines

How's the DJI working for you Victor?

If you run a fairly straight Throttle Curve (rpm) you will be just fine with the DJI.

I have had the DJI a couple of months now, purchased from Robert and I can't say enough good things about it..........I don't have my dog trained to stay like the DJI does once it's locked on. I finally started doing video's which are much, much easier then with the Helicommand. If you like the Helicommand, the DJI has that mode as well without the GPS function.

I had a little bit of trouble setting it up, but you have to either call Robert, or interpret a little bit, which I am not good at.
But overall, it's the best investment I made for my AP in the last 6 years I've been doing it.

Juan, What "tweaking" do you mean for descent speed?

I am a happy DJI customer. It was a good value, and has a sense of quality that instills confidence, both from the product and the distributor (Rob).
