Watch the left stick closely.
The throttle and pitch are backwards...

All I can think of is plank history, where pull back is up (elevator) . . .

It's like a full-scale heli that way (you "pull pitch". I considered doing that myself back in the '80s when I started flying helis again (my first attempt was 1977). I was flying Cobras for the Army at the time, and the front seat flight controls were both short. I thought that maybe I should go with a similar setup for R/C, but in the end I decided to go with what was considered normal so that I could have other people fly my birds if I had problems.

Germans fly this way, and many other europeans.

And they fly as well, or better than you...

Stick mode is of no moment.

Why on earth du you beleive that!!

Most of us (99%) in europe are using MODE2 Left stick: Throttle/Pitch and Rudder, right stick: Nick and Roll.

And Throttle & Pitch are NOT reversed.

It was already mentioned about Mode 1 and Mode 2.
what is different to the U.S. style is normal for other countries...
It works for Lukas Riva!

1. How do you bypass the warning messages on some radios if the throttle stick is not fully down?

2. On some radios, the throttle trim only works on the bottom of the range, but with this set-up you are at the top at idle, how do you trim for that?

Those are two questions that pop into my head immediately. I bet I can think of a few more if I grab my radio(s) and their manuals.

It is probably really because in a real heli you pull the pitch lever.

A friend of mine does it as well, but I think it is funky.
As one already said, he can't fly heli of other friends, or you have to change the setup. if you want so, you have to change the figures for Ail, Ele and pit from +60 to -60 in the [SWASH MIX] menu of the DX7

Very interesting! The only that I know is that I could never fly my heli this way.

you would be surprised...

i know a kid who started out using left/right as elevator and forwards/backwards for aileron control on his helicopter. its the way he set it up...by looking at the paddles, which he didnt know acted 90 degrees to the main rotor.

he flew like this for a while until i told him that its technically wrong...

i know another guy who is left handed, so for both planks and heli's, throttle on the right (mode 1) works better for him.

then look at Curtis youngblood's old 10X...

its what ever you learned to fly with and your personal preference.

What's up with a second motor/ESC/battery to run the tail rotor? Seems like an interesting idea.

I can understand why having the pitch reversed on the left stick would make sense if you had flown a full-scale heli before.

While I fly mode 2 , I invert my mouse for first person shooter games because of the many years of flying . The repeatitive motion of pushing forward to go down carried over to the mouse to make the gun and head move down . I cant play them with normal setup as well , no one can play it set up my way . Point is , its what ever your brain becomes trained to react to movement .

one. technically more power available to the main rotor...although your now carrying more weight.

two. during an auto, all energy from the auto is going to the main rotor again, therefore you can have super long autos.

three. the tail rotor is maintaining a constant rpm no matter what you do. if your doing 3D and you bog the head with high loads, not only do you need more power available to the tail, but your also dropping rpm, therefore you have less power available when you need more....therefore your tail blows out. but with an independent driven tail, this will not happen. you can bog the head all you want, but the tail will still have all the power it needs to hold.

as far as i know though, this isn't (currently) allowed with F3C competitions mainly because of the advantage in auto's.
