well I for 1 think theres issues with Align
QC seams very poor. Very POOR!
Yes Align sells lots of kits. LOTS! something along the lines of 50 to 1 of other heli manufacturers. Which I think 65% of that is 450 size helis
I have a Align 700 and converted it to a X-Tera 700 electric. servo dirrect to swash, Slid in tray for batteries, 2 stage gearing for the better ratio. fly it with a canopy or without.
issues with Align from the past?
1. mainshaft needs to be harden
2. Standardize linkage so we can throw theirs in the d amn trash.
3. Carbon boom, still aluminum , junk! just use the aluminum one and save the bucks.
4. make a gear that can withstand a beating. great for 85% of the pilots out there , but those 15% can tare some s hit up. in other words. they beat the snot out of it. why not make it thicker and mod 1. DUH!
5. Oneway , 600 is the worse, rest are good
6. upgrade canopy knobs , SUCK, strip very easy
7. SCREWS
8. worse EVER to backup there product. no responce! you are own your own kinda responce
is it worth it, yeh! 85% will have fun with it
the left over 15% is either heavy 3Ders, Stick bangers or just one of the few that gets a lemmon

Wow! Just buy something else then. Not tryin to be rude but it is a hobby and if it makes you that upset then get a diffrent bird. I have two 700's and love them. My 600 was great as well. The only problem with harden shafts would be that it would just break somewhere else. The weakest link is where it is to break so the shafts may save other vitals that may give out. Just enjoy flyin!

If that means a different bird then get something that will make you feel great again.

Totally agree. I got a 620 servo that feels like it has sand in it but there is nothing to do but buy another. No anwser from align. I was not meaning that to be rude just hate to see someone down about the hobby. i wish Align would address more of the issues with more than an upgrade. i am sure they should have recalled a few parts that have put several birds in the ground. But no such luck! We will see. It won't be long and another company will get the spot light and then maybe Align will do something.

All this and still seems that the elite pilots fly stock aligns and majority of the hobby as well with no real issues yet the very few that think they have to redesign the heli and still can't fly nearly to its potential are complaining. DO You not see that as odd or possibly nothing will ever make you happy. If you are better than the machine, find something else to fly or design something you may think works. If align had to constanly deal with silly issues, they would never be an end to your problems. I still have my original pre-production align 700n and 2 more converted to electric using very basic parts righ after and I'm still flying them with no issues that another heli won't have. I've added 2 mor horse power to the stock mod 7 main gear using stock pinion to adaptor and all stock align parts. What makes yours so bad?

You re-designed or made some crazy setup to make the heli work well, lets see if it out-perform a stock align with basic electric conversion in this video...

well mr engineer Ray, what do you think you could have done better?
your electric conversion is just a few things added to a design that really aint design to be a true electric. Designed with dollars on the mind. made for one motor! nitro pinion could only be used. no gear ratio what so ever. you were only thinking in the corner of the box here. yeh! I seen that video. yeh! it does good. linkages will need to be changed soon!
Gear train! would you have designed it with a thicker gear or just like it is? theirs not any head room for nothing. If you have a heli thats bullet proof. then you have one heck of a design, but heavy. flys like a Rappy or a synergy, Im a welder and worked alot around boilers. talking about over done! they are.

That conversion kit allows any pinion and motor. Lack of ablity is where most people start blaming anything and everything except themselves. Jamie Robertson won xfc using this machine. What allows you to complain???

It truly boggles me how far some people will go to try and dis-prove facts.

The 700 has won 3D Masters and XFC, not to mention it was flown by probably 65% of the XFC competitors...clearly a poor quality machine.

The fact of the matter is that as I mentioned in my previous thread, almost every major player in the helicopter game has been flying the 700 as their primary helicopter for some time, this is a fact.

Is it because the helicopter flys great, is inexpensive, super easy to work on or any other host of major pluses that the 700 brings to the table. Most are flying it with little to no mods at all and any mods that are made are negligable such as flybarless.

Also, the 700 is very versatile and makes a great base platform for conversions like Ray's or a few of the other conversions out there. Not to mention that now it's also a gasser and a turbine!

One helicopter and 4 different platforms in which it can be configured, not to shabby there.

The fact still remains that the quality of Align helicopters is not nearly as bad as many would make it out to be and while there have been some minor issues they have been adressed by Align in a timely manner and for a large majority have rectified the issues.

I still have yet to see little Align people running around forcing people to buy their helicopters, until then, the choice is yours to fly any of the many great helicopters that currently exist.

Hi Guys

This type of thread has been beaten to death many, many times and a usually refrain from getting involved.... but

We choose a product for many reasons. To start with it is usually what your friend uses, you hobby shop sells, what you see on the net etc, etc.

By the time you are 'into' the hobby a little you make more educated choices ...... so when you buy a $700 TRex 700 expecting JR Sylphide or Hirobo Eagle quality you clearly live in a phantasy world....

Does this make Align bad.... no. It was built at a price, it give very usable quality and excellent performance.

Decide what you want and work with it..... even the 'best' brands have issues.

Regards
Paul

PS: i feel better now!!!!! Good enough to almost go buy a TRex 700!!!!!!

After reading both threads, I can only be amazed at how passionate some of the Align haters are out there. They have even taken their time to search the Align subsection to post their view and try to convince others that Align will always be a sub-par machine. Almost troll-like in the postings of these threads. Reminds me at how people hate other brands of products. (i.e. Harley hating on metric bikes and sport bikes.. Suzuki haters.....ummm ummm...pc haters...The list goes on and on.)

Bottom line is, its your money, spend it how you want to. Align makes a great product for the price, and this is still a hobby where you have to pay to play. Yes, Align does have its irks and teething problems. Yet, it has helped reach more new flyers out there. For me, I'm flying Align because it is what most of the flyers locally fly. Best supply of parts, and more people to ask for help with it. To each their own.

Just my 2 cents....

I couldn't agree more with this statement!
If my LHS stocks nearly every part for a particular heli brand because 9 out of 10 local heli pilots are flying it, then I am definitely going to buy and fly it as well.
