My Daddy told me I would go blind if I didn't stop...
Shoulda listened.

I told the doctor I broke my leg in two places. He told me to quit going to those places...

Ifalsetto, got the same 20 pair of reading glasses laying around the house for the small reading and screws and the like. Wonder why they dont sell the ones for $2 that see 50/100/200 yards??? I would have several of those at different yards.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

I had Lasik surgery about 13 years ago, best $4,000 I ever spent, I have been 20/20 ever since, used to be 20/400. My wife had it done also, with the same results.

I probably got my money back with the savings from not needing glasses since, not to mention the inconvenience.

Need granny glasses to see up close real good now-a-days though.

It is so nice to know others are having the same problem as me!

I started wearing reading glasses 4 years ago when I realized the newspaper was 2 feet away from me to be able to see it.

I am going to be 45 here in two months and I fear the eye doctor is going to say I need glasses all the time!

It would not be a big deal except I have always laughed when my wife and friends come in out of the cold and their glasses fog up,soon it will be my turn and I guess I deserve it!

Seems to be the vast majority start to need reading glasses at around 40/41 years of age. I seem to have lost the long range site first and then the up close stuff.

If it doesn't fly sell it!

My eye doctor said that when you turn 50 it is like someone turned off a light switch. I can squeak by fist thing in the morning for reading but the minute I put the readers on I am cooked for the rest of the day.

Has anyone tried the 'Crystal Lens' surgery? I worked with a guy who had that done - worked great for him. (As I understand it, the natural lens in the eyeball is replaced with a flexible plastic one, so that your eye ball can adjust the lens to focus.) Seems like a great idea - but certainly carries risk, too.

The problem I have with goin to get my eyes checked, is them optomotrist guys are hardly likely to tell me my vision is perfect and let me walk out of there without purchaseing a pair of glasses, its like a car salesman trying to talk you out of buying one of his cars.

The cost of the exam aside, whether or not you "need" glasses is entirely up to you. During the exam, they dial in your correction. Can you read the chart significantly better through the machine vs. without? If you don't see enough improvement to warrant the cost, walk out.
