Guys can soemone help shed some light on this for me please

I have a Velocity 50 speced out as follows

OS55
Hatori pipe
ATG in govenor mode

I have set the spartan up as per all my other spartan equiped machines and i have a tail whip, its almost impossible to piro flip it!

I have been back over my set up and it looks fine, the sensors mounted up front, not on the rear like most machines but a lot of other guys have been mounting there gyros there on the velocity with no reported issues so far.
the gyro has the normal foam bottom mount then the metal plate then the tape to mount the gyro on, as per the instructions.

Im a little perplexed what to try next

Can anyone offer some ideas here please

Thanks Dale

which tail servo? is the tail pitch slider sticking at all? everything in the tail should be smooth with minimal slop. also what is your gain setting? do you have it maxed out?

34.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot

well the first thing I would check is the oneway on your machine!
servo horn length is another one, the norm on a 600 to 700 size machine is around 14mm out, this should be around 40 to 50 on gain with a futaba radio.
servo, 9256 or Bl251

Guys thanks for the replys

I have a totally perfectly smooth and slop free tail system.

Arm length is 14mm

usuall set-up to be honest

Miskimo, VERY good idea, I was having the auto hub grab at the end of the day, maybe thats slipping a little?

I never thoguht of that one.

mind you i never heard it "unload" either.

i have moved the sensor to the rear of the frames, which is the usual mounting place on most machines.

I have pulled the oneway out and cleaned and deburred the hub, as there was a few small marks from the bearings on it from the lockups yesterday.

So i will give her another fly tomorrow after work and see how she goes.

NOTE: on all my other machiens with a spartan gyro i have around 33-38 gain, DX-9 radio.

On this machine i have 72 ????? i only get a small way on a very high speed vertical tail slide, when i pull out it hangs on fine.
Tail servo is a BLS251 with 25 fligths at the most on it.

seems a little strange so far.

Thanks for your input guys,

Dale

Misskimo

Thanks again

This is a Whip not a wag, i am presuming your saying wag like too much gain where the tail moves left and right?

My issue was more in piroetting manouvers it would speed up and slow down again all erattic.

trying to prioflip the heli was imposible.

Recently saw a velocity 50 with an unhappy gyro setup.

We changed a bunch of stuff, most of which I can't remember (sorry) - but the thing that made the biggest difference was moving the gyro to the rear mounting position.

It wasn't the first thing tried because things were a lot cleaner with the gyro upfront, but doing this corrected 75%+ of the issues we were chasing.

Thanks Bob00

I have moved it to the rear and will try to fly it tonight or tomorrow.
