What is the difference between the Maxi Joker Joker Maxi 2 and 3? At the same size machines?

Fionn and Seablade have already covered it but I just like to add my experience with the MaxiJoker3. Many variations are available depending on your needs. I am flying the MaxiJoker3 with torque tube driven tail.

Without a doubt it's the most efficient Heli I have flown. I am seeing 51watts per pound average which is extremely efficient. The drive transmission is very quiet and smooth and in my view is a big improvement over the joker2 belt drive system. The machining is very precise. All parts fit very well and the supplied shims allow very accurate adjustment of gear backlash. Torque tube is very smooth and flybarless head with direct swashplate control via the servos eliminates any prospect of slop developing in the head. The associated low parts count make for a very quick build.

Tail slider bellcrank is now double articulated and supported by bearings both top and bottom. This allows for linear movement through the bellcrank control to the tail slider. The older ball and socket system required the ball to rotate in the socket to accomadate the non linear movement of the belcrank and developed wear over time ( common to a great deal of model helis). The new setup is much smoother in operation and makes the angular movement associated with a bellcrank pivoting from a fixed point to actuate a linear slider a thing of the past.

As already mentioned the frames have changed, the motor plate has an extra set of supports and electronics placement is now alot better accomadated.

Regards

Fergus

To add to Fergus' feedback...

The MJ3's head is also beefed up a bit. The flybarless pushrods are thicker as well as the balljoints.

The main grip assembly is a lot more solid as well with the additional plastic inserts support for the rubber O-rings.

Better design of the bearing blocks as well. No more "flange" bearings required.

Main shaft can now support 25Kg without the need for thrust bearings.

I like the shorter motor belt. It rides a lot more evenly along the pinion and 2nd gear.
