Missing Parts

My kit was missing a few things, one of the blade grips was missing a nut for the blade. It goes together REALLY easily, take your time, also my canopy was cracked and dented. The way they put things in the kit, you can see how it would be easy for it to be cracked.

Also I thought it was really cool the kit comes with an Align build towel to build your heli on.

I didn't use any of the frame bolts, there are lots of people that have problems with them. For $20-$30 buy an aftermkarket frame bolt kit that has separate washers.

I'm still using the stock plastic clutch/pinion bearing block but lots of guys are replacing them with metal blocks. I sanded the joint just a bit to help lock that pinion bearing in place.

Pin the tail boom in place. Don't want the boom flying off.

Watch the links, they wear fast and a some have had mid-air link pop off's with bad results. QUK link set seems to be a popular upgrade. I'm still running stock links, may change them soon.

Not sure about those Align 690D blades, pretty bad mid-air blow up at our field this weekend with a 700 running a set of 690D's.

I'm using 690 blades on it, 710 looks a bit more sluggish.
I had 690C for a long time than the 690D just recently.
What a difference! I just love those 690D's!!!

With all 700's, red loctite on the boom support screws and the tail hub set screw. 700 really likes 690's. I've been fly the 750/650 combo since it was released and its been flawless. Setup is fairly straight forward. Enjoy!

Theres a trick to the stock frame screws, I'm still using the stock screws for over a year with several rebuilds under its belt. I had to lay the frame flat, insert driver fully. Hold firm pressure with one hand and use a set of channel locks to turn the driver. After they break loose they come right out. OR.... buy an aftermarket set!

i received my second 700LE yesterday, and began work...I looked quickly for things that people have said have been missing in their kits, but all is there. my first had/has upgraded clutch mount and tail rotor horn, this one will be built stock with bling to come later. whatever someone thinks of align in general, this kit is a great way to get into larger helis with minimal cost and great looks, and while I am a nobody at the field the better flyers regularly show its capabilities. hoping for a maiden this weekend...

I checked my clutch runout - it wasn't too bad but one position is better than the other as I remember. Check the clutch liner gap - mine is marginally too big. I flew it that way anyway but I know I'm pushing it and may end up with a broken clutch. I'll reline it this winter.

hi

Ink,

You are getting rid of a 700N because of bad blades? I would think it would be a lot easier to just put a different brand blade on and continue to fly??

Share your thoughts? on second thought, PM me your comments, thanks

i have had 3 700's my 1st one i never had a problem my 2nd i stripped 2 main gears and broken 3 flybar cages and the 3rd i just lost interest in 700's after the crash. there not bad heli's , just keep a eye on the links or just do the quick uk links and keep a eye on the cages. the new le comes with the newer main gear so you shouldnt have to worry there.

Ironically, I've had 4 700's and never stripped a gear, and never broke a flybar cage.

With proper maintenance and regular checks you shouldn't have any issues. I usually go over my machines very well after every 5-6 gallons of fuel.

Please stay on topic.. Otherwise I will CLOSE IT.

I am aware of the controversy and issues and yet I still think the 700 is good for what it is (a beater bird to increase my skills)..Any BUILDING and FLYING tips will be appreciated.. Thank you for pointing out the flaws (there are pros and cons to every bird out there)..

Thank you!!!

Lets get back to the topic

The 700 build is very straight forward.

I typically build 1 side frame installing all the servos, bearing blocks and so on. This makes putting them together much easier and allows for a clean run of your servo leads.

Unlike many, I use Red Loktite (sparingly) on the entire machine to ensure that nothing will come loose unless I want it to.

We are currently running the fuel nipple on the outer hold, this makes installing the fuel tank and changing out clunk line super easy.

Other than that, just follow the instructions and you should be well on your way to an easy build.

build the fuel tank first and make sure you put it in when putting the 2 side frames together, it can be done like instructions but its a bitch to get in afterwards

There are some after market frame screws that I put in during my build keep the head stripping to a minimum. I agree with you, the 700 is a really good heli, just a couple quirks.
