It will do higher discharge rate with low cell count of course. It is related to total wattage. With 10s pack, 0.50A is the most you can get. It is not about fooling it or not...

What I mean by "fooling" is manually entering the number of cells for the discharge cycle.....say, for example, a 4 cell (instead of your 10 cell) so that you can obtain your desired discharge rate........

Like I say, I'm admittedly not familiar with your charger...so what I'm saying may not be possible....

I guess I don't understand why .50A is "all you can get".....

I see it but I don't think this will be the right way to do it. If I enter 4 cell for a 10s pack, I cannot use the balancer because then it will see the inconsistency and stop the operation. I don't want to discharge the pack w/o a balancer.
I guess I can disconnect the balancer from the charger but I don't know how accurate the readings will be on the 1010C unit after the discharge. I am trying to see what capacity the pack has and entering the wrong specs will not get me anywhere.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I will do the test with a smaller pack.

Your batt pack never gets balanced discharged when you fly them.

No problem.....

For what it's worth, I don't think that the balancer has anything to do with the discharge side of things (I think that's what Heli 770 is suggesting)...... Using the Triton to discharge, we can set the discharge rate we're looking for and the "stop voltage" at whatever we want and let the Triton do as instructed.... It doesn't care what battery you have plugged in or what the battery chemistry is. It's just discharging "a battery" under pre-determined, user defined conditions. We use the main battery leads to do this, not the balancing taps....

After getting the reading, then we simply charge the battery on the FMA 10S using the balancing taps and away you go. Best of both worlds...... The Trion tells you what you've taken out and the 10S charger balance charges the packs back up.......

Anyhow, good luck........

Heli 770, you got a point in that statement!..

It is really true that under extreme discharge rates of 20-30Amp, packs onboard never utilizes balancer.
The main reason why I want to discharge with the balancer connected is because I would like to monitor the cell voltages throughout the
discharge... This way, I will get a chance to see if any cell drops on the voltage. But I can still do this manually by connecting a voltmeter directly to balancing tabs

Juan, I now understand the logic of your method. As Heli770 stated, we don't have balancer during the flight so who cares one while discharging the packs... Thanks...
