| I just bought the parts separately and built my own from scratch.

This is the expensive way as manufactures make a lot more $ on the parts than they do the whole kits. Basic marketing 101. BUT, this method can be very satisfying to a builder as well... I'm guilty too with other models.
Personally, I bought two combo's and a basic kit just for parts. One to attempt/practice 3D and the other to fit inside of the H500E scale body. BTW, the scale body is a bit heavier but for normal flying and high speed flying, the added weight gives it a much more solid feeling and I can easily see it a lot further out. It seems a lot bigger too. I Love it!

Basic Kit= motor and speed controller Combo Kit= the above plus three digital cyclic servo's Super Combo= the above plus gyro and tail servo
IMO, the stock gyro and servo aren't that good but barley adequate and not consistent= lots of frustration .
