I remember the flybar issue when I first started to put my Spectra together - what a nightmare that was

Trouble is that issues like that, magnified with the delays for parts, and it would take a lot for me to buy another US heli.... Now Gasser apart...there's always a decent British choice in the Blitz Avro - if you really want quality

On the fair side I bought all my Gasser stuff from Ron Lund.. and his service has always been excellent and quick..and even with post and taxes usually came out better than buying the same stuff UK

Yeah I agree with that, I`ve used them quite a lot as well and things work out pretty good.

It is the delays in getting the parts that get annoying and could turn you away from having or keeping a MA helicopter.

How long has it been that you've been having MA parts shortages in the UK (other than the usual shortage of CNC metal upgrades)?

.it's less a matter of parts shortage UK.. more that ordering has to be by phone..and it can be a pain getting through to the one distributor..and then paying UK prices which are usually 50% higher.

With me its having to ring up with no online ordering and stock levels available and then be told that the parts are not available and would be ordered when possible.

For the last couple of items needed it was a no go locally and a no offer of a phone call when in stock.

I tried several times to get a update but gave up and tried elsewhere.

One of these items was a Spectra secondary CF engine plate and in the end I managed to get it from the US.Also had a couple come from Australia as well just in case.

We need good stock levels,be able to check stock levels, order on line and know that the parts are on there way.
And be somewhere near the US prices.

With so many households

having access to global internet prices,it must be a nightmare for retailers here now.I wonder how many times this gets thrown at sales staff when people are shopping.I get it all the time with auto parts.

Team- unbiased opinion,no experts here just trying to help thats all.K.I.S.S principle upheld here

Can't you just order from Heliproz? They are located right next door to the MA factory. They should have everything in stock, and you can order everything online.

I've ordered things from the UK from time to time when I couldn't find them in the US. Shipping took about a week.

The new A-frames are now available from HeliProz. They $21 each, and are thicker around the circle in the center.

It's the same part number as the old one. 125-40. You'll have to call them directly and ask for the new Spectra Ladder A-frame. They are out of stock on the old one anyways. Here is how they compare:

I`ve still got two of the older style ones in my spare parts box but just in case I had better see about ordering some of these especially when I`m planing on keeping my rear mount muffler

If you're using the rear muffler

I'd say definately put the thicker one on the back, and use the thinner ones for the front. That way your spares won't go to waste.

Glad to see Minair came up with a thicker version as I suggested. I myself also have a couple of older thinner spares, one with a round hole and one with an X. I'm not using the rear muffler any more, so I won't worry about swapping them out, but eventually I'll end up with the thicker ones like everyone else.

So you don't think we need the thicker one on the front?

You want to put one there go for it. When mine cracked (due to the rear zimmerman) it was always the rear one.

I'm just worried that if I don't put the thicker one up front as well as on the back, that the helicopter will somehow disintegrate in flight.

Yes be very careful you silly goose

It could blow up due to uneven strength between the two A frames and throw parts all over the field.

Uh oh!!!! Now I'm afraid.

But seriously. When these A-frames break, do they slowly develop a crack, or do they just separate all at once? I imagine like any kind of metal fatigue, there should be some warning signs, right?

these models have been flying for years and years with the original aluminum frame members. Although there have been some specific instances of them cracking it is not a prevalent problem. If you somehow completely break one, you'll definitely see a vibration problem
