I’m not having a dig but have you ever got your trex conversion to run the way you want

Trust you
I nearly added that bit to my post but I just knew someone would come back with a sarcastic comment; the answer is no I haven’t and it’s cost a small fortune so far but I aint giving up just yet

jrockstuart whoever Brian is if he's anything to do with MinAir then you can tell him from me that the design of those A frames is ridicuously weak for the weight and size of the heli.

Brian James is the new manager of Miniature Aircraft.

broken A-frame

I also had the issue with broken A-frame but had other issues at the time so not sure of the cause. Shortly after that one of the mounting flanges broke off and I went to side mount muffler. I haven't had the A-frame issue since. Not sure this helps any.

Yes, Ivan could certainly make us the perfect A-frame. He is an excellent machinist.

Malcolm my rear mount has been working fine all the time I've had it and I really don't like the look of a baseball bat size muffler hanging off the side. Despite the one minor crash which was only from a gentle hover just above head height I really can't see this being the cause.
If those that have had this problem with the same exhaust have not had an issue since swapping to the side mount I may have to forego the looks and get one.
I really am in two minds as to whether this would just be throwing good money after bad. If it cures the problem that's fine, but now I'm starting to get problems getting parts from M&R's as well. For weeks now I've been told whenever I ask about anything that MA are in the process of moving factories and it could take a long time to get parts. How long does it take to move things over for crying out loud. I'm not sure whether to just call it a day and buy sometihng else. Main problem being the Spectra would probably struggle to raise two goldfish and a toffee apple second hand.

Yeah its no good relying on M&R at all.
They say they will order the part then never bother to contact you again.

You take pot luck when you ring them and you can`t even see there stock level on their website.

I`m using Rons in the US and RC Heliworld in Australia at the moment for parts.

I don`t like any of the side mount mufflers at all but very nearly had to have one.
Time will tell I suppose.

Try and persevere if you can if you can sort out the problems you will enjoy it.

Had about four tanks through mine on Saturday doing loops, rolls, flips and fast stuff etc and it was superb.
Not got the power of the YS91SR in my T Trex 700 but still great stuff.

And it goes for ever on a tank of fuel

Well if the machinist for MA did not move with the plant yall may have to wait for MA to find one and there hard to come by. I could make the A frame with no problem i guess the back one needs to be thicker on the back mount. I have no idea how the muffler mounts so i'm not sure i could be much help with it. I do like the looks of the rear mount muffler but i'm going to use the can muffler on mine i just need to finish putting my heli back together after Hanson did my motor work for me. I've had problems latly with my left hand so i have not really been able to work on it,but i'm getting better i hope to have it ready to fly by the weekend. I've been making a prototype Jewel mount for a Trex 700 and i shipped them to Raja today to see how he likes them. So for those of you that want one for you Trex 700 i would start PM'ing Raja and let him know so he will have an idea how many people want one. I have a tail grip project for the Spectra i have been working on that i think a few of you might want. If i have a problem with my carb getting hot and not pumping i'm going to make a carb mount out of G10 and try that, but right now i just have to get it back together.

Thanks

a lot of the machining has been done by Big Sky CNC which was already owned by FlyCo. Now that MA is also owned by Flyco, Big Sky will do most if not all of it.

they have a first rate machinist and some of the best equipment. The machining quality will be better than ever and will put most of the chinese stuff to shame.

Good thats what i like to hear. The only reason i was going to make a few part for the Spectra was not to compete with MA it's just that MA does not make enuff upgrades that people want. If you make it i will not,i make most of my money from big companys so i was just going to make a few parts to help the guys here on RR out. Good luck and when do you think you all will be up and running? What brand Cnc milling machines do you have?

Thanks for the info

can you reproduce the wally fan sense no one is making them right now?

I love how well it works but sooner or later I will need to replace it. I wish I had bought a spare.

hey smallplanes

they are using HAAS machines

you should talk to Wally at rc-aftermarket.com about making those fans. I don't know if he's got anybody lined up to make them right now. Looking at the photos of your facility, you're setup for big time production.

If you need parts I have no problem sending them to you from here first class mail to England. I've sent everything to everyone I've ever dealt with first class and it may take a couple of weeks but they always get there and alot cheaper than what other places might charge you.

In fact I know a local guy here (New England Heli) that stocks many Minair parts and you could very well buy from him too as well.

We have all MORI SEIKI machines which or high production machines and they are very accurate. If Wally wants me to make them for him i will but i'm not going to copy his idea. I'm a good machinist but terrible at getting a gasser to fly right.

I didn't mean steel his idea If he does not start making them again I would hope he would let you (or someone) produce them, I was assuming there was a program required to do it and I know he was trying to get MA to do it as well.

All I can say is it works much better than the stock one
