Just wondering.

I wonder what flying club here in the US is most active? You go out to fly and there is a ton of people there every weekend.

I live in a town of about 40,000 and our flying site and club is so small, it sucks. I love rounding the corner to the field and seeing at least one vehicle in the parking lot. It's always a bummer when no one else is out there.

I am one of about 5 guys who flys helis at out field. I wish I was one of about 40 guys who flys helis at our field.

So lets hear who's club or flying site is the most active. Everytime you show up there is people flying and having a good time. I know it's not mine.

Bob, it'll pick up again in the spring. I would have gone today, but for some family obligations. I'll even go out on warmer winter days, but I can't see going out if I can see my breath. I don't have any hand-warming pouch for the transmitter, and electrics aren't as good in the cold.

I just really enjoy flying with other Heliguys. I don't mind flying with planks, but the conversation is not the same. I like talking about the new thing on the block or working on helis.

When I first starting going to our field there where 5 to 6 hard core heli flyer's, now it's just me and about 5 others who show up every once in a while.

Just want to hear how active the other flying sites are. Who has the best or largest group of fliers out there.

Are days are numbered as winter is fast approaching but I will be out there every chance I get if the weather cooperates and we have that occasional warm day.

Hope to see you out there.

Yeah I know the feeling. Our club has 55 members of which probably 30 are active and only 6 of those being heli pilots. Unless I set up a time to fly with another heli guy, I'm lucky to see anybody else out there.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

Same here if it's not scheduled we would never see each other.

But I also started flying planes this year so I still have someone to talk to but not about heli's.

I believe our club has about 200 members as well and only two heli guys.
We just lost another one as his job has moved him to North Carolina.

The club I am in has no other helicopters. To make matters worse, they have adopted Fridays as the normal weekly fly day. The monthly meetings are on Saturday. Because everyone is either retired or has Friday off except me, I don't bother to go on any weekend days other than the meeting day. The field is in a state park, and for some reason it gets tied up with sailplanes most weekends during the summer. I am hoping to attract some local North Idaho/Spokane helicopter pilots that would want to be a member of a relaxed club that doesn't force helicopters into a segregated zone. I'll be building a website and setting up a Facebook thing to try to cover as much media as possible. My club is comprised of mostly oldtimers who want more members but are not all up on current technology. We have an awesome state maintained field and 22 members. That is just wrong. I do think I have at least one planker who wants to give helicopters a go again now that there is someone (me) who can get him in the air. He was all on his own the last time he tried and it didn't go well for him.

My town is pretty small, about 40,000 people. We have two clubs the heli club has just over 30 members and the plane club has right at 50. Less then 10 people are members of both, I am one of them though. The Sundays are always good at the heli field with 5 to 10 guys there most of the day. Thursday afternoons are good at the plane club with 5 to 20 guys there, Saturday's and Sunday's are good as well.

I put the fun in dysFUNctional :)

Having a really active group of heli guys is a lot of fun. A couple years ago, my local club was getting close to 10 guys every single Saturday morning. Then we lost our field and many of us went our own ways because we couldn't find a site in the same general vicinity as the old one. It's much much harder to maintain a level of enthusiasm when you don't have a good local support group.
