Its significance depends on how and what you are shooting and at what frame rate. Because the CMOS chip paints the lines from top to bottom, if the camera is moving in a brisk panning motion, these lines will be drawn at a skewed angle that is off true vertical. If your shots require panning across buildings or other objects with straight lines it will be very noticeable and ugly. Smoothcam will make this issue worse and deshaker can make it "somewhat" better. This flaw/issue applies in varying amounts to any camera with a CMOS chip, HC-5, 5D, 7D, EX1, Red one, etc. This is why most of the aerial clips you see using these cameras don't have much quick panning if straight vertical lines are present in the images. Our eyes pick up distortion in hard lines quite easily. General vibration also shows up more noticeably with hard vertical lines but it is a different issue than rolling shutter.
We recently finished shooting a commercial for this years Superbowl that was filmed with the Red one and 5D mark 2. Most of the clips had buildings in them. A few required panning so it will be interesting to see what the compositing crew ends up doing with them.
Here is an example of rolling shutter at varying frame rates.
