Hi guys,

Im running the combo above and Im having a bit of an issue here. The clutch bolts are ever so slightly touching the top of the bell. There is a bit of scratch marks on the bolts itself and the main gear doesn't spin as smoothly as my friends' running the OS91hz

My friends running the OS91HZ have no issue whatsoever and their helis look to have almost 1mm clearance between the clutch and the bell

Im not even sure why the clutch bolts are higher up than the clutch but I did recall tightening them down. I'm gonna strip the engine out and check once again.

Is removing the engine washer even an solution? Would it cause the fan hub to jam against the outer race of the front bearing? The washer looks to be ~1mm in thickness.

I had the same problem so I filed down the head of the bold so it is lower than the clutch. I am not sure what caused this problem yet but it worked for now

Jake,

Thanks for the tip...I'll do just that.
Im thinking that removing the engine washer will cause the fan hub to grind against the front bearing.

You should put lock tight on it even with the lock washer. Better safe than sorry. Just a small amount - no need to load it on. It only takes a little.

Fly it like you stole it!

I did use the lock washer along with loctite.
However as i mentioned...the bolts seems to rise up above the clutch itself and is dragging the clutch bell ever so slightly

I think way back, I recall some people finding a thinner washer to use.

Personally, I don't use the washer but that's just me. Others have exclaimed that the backplate is in jeapordy because of this. I see where they are coming from but I'll take the risk. With all the oil flying around in the engine, it would probably take a century to cause any real wear on the backplate. My fan hub is so close to the bearing, I don't really think it walks much anyway and no, it doesn't rub on the engine case or the bearing case.

Regardless, I'd recommend finding a slightly thinner washer. Just be sure it isn't so thin that it distorts and rubs the case or bearing.

Quandumphone,

yeah...I'd doubt the fan hub is going anywhere looking at how tight the fan hub is against the crankshaft even without the bolts clamping onto the crankshaft
