4G6

I purchased one and I'm no expert but the videos that are posted by Buildem336 don't represent my experience, the way I received it out of the box. The heli flies well, it has great cyclic response and the tail seems to hold good so far. As far as power it didn't have enough with the stock motor to throw it around like you see in Buildem336 videos. The heli comes with the WK-WS-12-005 motor with 12T pinion it has a low head speed and poor climb out. I read that the WK-WS-12-003 motor with a 16T pinion works well so I tried it, it's the motor that comes in the 4G3 brushless and it was better but still not enough power in my opinion and with my flying experience to flip and roll it with confidence. I do believe a better pilot with good collective management would be able to control it. I now have purchased the new turbo ace out runner that Wow Hobbies has the 81220 with 20T pinion. The head speed is good and the climb out seems to be there without the bog. I just installed the motor yesterday and this is testing it in my basement, the winds were too high to try it outside yesterday up to 30mph and temps in the 30's. The one thing with the motor is you get some clogging on start up I hard wired it to the ESC like recommended. All in all if the heli has the power now I'm happy with it, it flies like I would expect for a heli it's size far better then the 4G3 as far as the tail goes, the 4G3 was way under powered the way it comes also. I think fling a heli this size you will loose stability over a 200 size heli, it's like the difference you see in going from a Gaui 200 or Trex250 and comparing it to a 450 or 500 size heli there is a lack of stability from size alone or maybe it's just me. The transmitter will give you the ability you need to adjust it to your flying style. I hope this helps.

Thanks Joe for the reply,
Some great info there.
What lipo were you using and what are the run times with the different motors? Any problems with tail gears etc?
Was the heli more stable at the higher headspeeds with the new motor and pinion or not??
Thanks Again for the info.

4G6

As I said I just spooled it up in the basement and pooped it up and down a little seems like the power is there without bog. As far as run times I have my timer set at 3 minutes not to push the batteries and that is based on Buidem336 run times. I’m using the Walkera chargers so I don't know how much I'm putting back in them getting warm but not hot. Once I get settled on a motor and start really flying it I'll charge on my regular charger and get a MAH usage. I have the battery that came with the heli and I purchased 3 Storm 20C 600mah packs. I haven't gone through any tail gears I did tap the tail blades on the ground in the basement yesterday and it didn't take out the gears. I purchased this for flying indoors in the winter with limited space and I know the way it came there wouldn't have been enough head room for me. I'm hoping for a calm day to give it a whirl outside before trying it indoors. The problem I had with the 4G3 is the tail would blow out on quick collective movements where as I'm hoping ,being a shaft drive not 2 motor setup that the tail will hold when flipping and rolling where as I needed to much head room to do it indoors with the 4G3's tail a lack of power. I do think you put this heli in the right hands and they will make it fly beautifully. I tend to be more of a stick banger. Buildem336 seems to have a handle on it.

Thanks Joe, Let us know what you think of the motor after you have used it abit. I am also interested in getting a small heli for the winter and if this little heli can do more than I can do with it as a pilot that would keep me interested for a good long time,,unlike the MSR for example which is a good little heli but i would get bored quick I'm afraid being fixed pitch and all.

4G6

Tried the motor today outside after work a little windy but went for it. The motor has the punch I was looking for. With the other motors I would have the pitch at 35 to 40 in the swash mix and 0 to 100 pitch curve in flight mode 1 and 2 it would bog on a climb out. Now there was no bog. I turned the pitch all the way to 70 and did climb outs and the tail held and without bog. I backed off to 60 and flipped it. The tail held and came around OK the wind bushed me down wind a little but worked out. Flew it for 4 minutes and battery didn't drop off and was a little warm. I didn't check to see how many degree pitch I have. I got one flight in with it and one with the trex 250 and it was dark. After playing around with the 4G3 and then the 4G3 brushless and now this 4G6 I think I got the little heli for indoor flying that I've been after. I think if you’re willing to buy the heli and put another $45 in for an aftermarket motor you will have something that will perform well.
