i have a raptor 30 and when you spool up the tail shakes (up and down) i've check the bearings and tail shaft and everything is fine but when you look inside the tail boom and tail housing it is full of powder like its comming from the belt. the belt is not binding, no teeth are missing but you do here a clicking sound sometimes then its spooling up. The belt in my oppion is good not to tight but not loose either. Trying to make it smoother. Is that the norm for a nitro machine. Tried asking around where i fly and real tired of hearing get a 600n

Hmmm. That clicking sound is the belt hitting the side of the tailboom which the belt needs to be tighten up. Did u scuffed the plastic and wrap the tailboom with tape preventing the tailboom being pulled back in when u tighten it down?

Sometimes when u tighten up the belt by pulling the tailboom to take out the slack and tighten down the boom to the desired tightens when u spool up the belt loosens up due to the fact the 4 screws have bottomed out and not actually tightening up around the tailboom so u put a piece of electrical tape around the boom that inserts into your frame. Do not overlap the tape and cut out the two slits on the end of the tailboom that the tape cover up. These should give u a bigger OD on the boom so the frame can clasp around the boom.

have you checked the pin going through the rear tail drive gear, sometimes these work their way out and rub/foul the inside of the tail case causing clicking and tail shakes /lockups, easy to repair and worth a check, colin

powdery dust is a sign of rubbing,if the belt keeps working loose,it will slap the boom, making a clicking.
did you check to see if the belt was in the groove in the pulleys on the frame?had one slip under a pulley one time and did'nt catch it,it acted simular to what youre describing.

it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission

On the same subject as trekrider586 -
Another good check is to make sure that your red belt guides on the inside of the frames are spinning freely! If one gets hung up or binds due to a bearing failure it will create wear (Dust visible)..

Just one more thing to check for...
