My Posts This: Topic Forum | I'm thinking that I'm starting to get my Gas X-Cell dialed in, it's now very responsive, and flying smoothly too!
The engine is running smooth, I'm starting to remember how much I love this X-Cell!
Tonight I was boring some holes in the sky, not doing too much... some loops, rolls, a flip (sort of), a few stall turns.
I landed it, and started checking over things as I usually do. I tipped it on one skid and for some reason decided to tap the skid. I heard something jingling.. like metal on metal... ping, ping, ping. What the heck is that!?!?!?
I was about to think I was hearing things as I couldn't reproduce the noise again when I noticed that the left engine mounting point was broken!! I mean, it was cracked right off of the crankcase exposing a nice hole in the side so I could see the flywheel clearly!!
What would cause this to happen? Has anyone ever seen this happen?? I haven't had a crash in a while! In fact, I think I only had two mishaps with this bird, once when a tail blade holder failed, I was hovering about 5 feet off the ground, so that wasn't too violent a touch down, and another when my upper frames failed due to vibration from a main shaft bearing failure. That was another hovering about 2 feet off the ground, so it didn't go plowing into the ground violently.
Is there any setup issues that could cause something like this to happen?
So.. do I repair it, or is it now time to order a new G231PUH?
I know I can order the broken part... but I would like to know why it failed.
Any ideas??
